The dangers of weaning drugs

Not only do women have to endure some pain during pregnancy, but they also have to worry about issues such as breastfeeding and weaning after giving birth. Weaning is painful for both mother and child. Mothers worry about problems such as low milk supply, milk engorgement, and milk dryness after weaning, while babies will also feel uncomfortable without milk, so many mothers want to take weaning pills. But all medicines are poisonous. What are the dangers of taking weaning medicine?

1. What is the effect of taking medicine to wean?

Taking medicine is definitely effective for weaning. Generally speaking, the weaning medicines preferred by mothers are saltpeter and malt, and saltpeter is mainly used for external application. In fact, when weaning, you can use the swelling method: let your breasts swell and endure the pain, and after about a week, they will swell back. During the weaning period, you must be patient and avoid letting your baby suck intermittently or expressing milk due to bloating and pain. Doing so will inevitably prolong the weaning time. The weaning method of swelling is quite uncomfortable and takes a long time. To reduce the pain, you can take weaning medication. Different measures should be taken according to the specific situation. First of all, you should stop drinking large amounts of soup, reduce nutrition, and avoid eating stewed chicken, stewed meat, or nutritious medicinal food. Then medication can be used to stop milk secretion. Generally speaking, it can be simply divided into the following three situations.

1. Take vitamin B6, 200 mg each time, 3 times a day. After 2 days, change to 100 mg, 3 times a day, for a total of 3 days. Suitable for use after the start of breastfeeding and before weaning.

2. Use 50 to 100 grams of roasted malt, add water to decoct and take one dose per day for 3 consecutive days. It is suitable for the early postpartum period and before weaning; and for those whose milk is not sufficient, you can try roasted malt, and you can use hot water for local hot compress during the milk swelling process.

3. Take ethylbutamol orally, 3 to 5 mg each time, 3 times a day, for 5 consecutive days. Suitable for one or two days after delivery, before large amounts of lactation have been produced. In these aspects, the effect of weaning drugs is still very obvious.

Second, the side effects of weaning drugs

There are still some side effects for weaning medicines, but most of them are traditional Chinese medicine preparations, so the side effects are relatively small.

If you are planning to wean your baby, it is best not to take milk-suppressing medicine. It is better to let weaning take its natural course. Just pay attention to adding complementary foods to your child on a regular basis. If you really want to wean your baby, it's best to do it gradually. If you reduce the number of breastfeeding times a day and have the mother drink less soup, the amount of breast milk will decrease.
