How to remove the smell of stale rice

In life, many people know that they should buy newly harvested rice when buying rice, because everyone thinks that old rice attracts insects and does not taste as good as new rice. Some old rice even becomes moldy due to improper storage method and location. Moldy old rice cannot be eaten because it will cause poisoning to the human body after eating. However, some people think that the smell of old rice is moldy. So how do you get rid of the smell of old rice?

There are three methods, as follows:

1. Wash the old rice first, soak it in clean water for two hours, then put it into a pot, add appropriate amount of hot water and a tablespoon of vegetable oil, stir it a few times with a spoon, bring to a boil over high heat and simmer over low heat for half an hour. The rice cooked in this way will be the same as the rice cooked with new rice.

2. Use tea to cook old rice to make rice that is colorful, fragrant and delicious. The specific operation is as follows: take 1-3 grams of tea leaves, soak them in 500-1000 ml of boiling water for 4-9 minutes, then filter out the residue. Then take an appropriate amount of the tea water with the residue removed as rice cooking water and add it to the washed old rice. The rice cooked in this way will have a fragrant aroma. Moreover, cooking with tea has the benefits of removing greasiness, cleaning the mouth, helping digestion and preventing some diseases.

3. Add 1/4 or 1/5 of beer to the water when cooking rice. The rice cooked in this way will not only be sweet but also have a good luster, just like new rice.

Enhance the aroma: If the rice at home is already old, it doesn’t matter, the old rice can also be steamed to give it the flavor of new rice. After the first three steps, we add a small amount of refined salt or peanut oil into the pot. Remember that the peanut oil must be cooked and cooled. Just add a little to the pot. Now, you can plug in the power and start steaming. After steaming, each grain is crystal clear and plump, and the rice aroma is fragrant.

Steamed rice with vinegar:

Cooked rice should not be kept for a long time, especially in summer, as it can easily go bad. If you add some vinegar when steaming rice, at the ratio of 2-3 ml of vinegar to 1.5 kg of rice, it can make the rice easier to store and prevent it from going bad. The steamed rice will not have a sour taste, but on the contrary will have a stronger aroma.

Add oil to steam rice:

Steamed rice from old rice is not as delicious as steamed rice from new rice, but by changing the method of steaming rice, you can make old rice taste as good as new rice.

The method is: soak it in clean water for two hours, take it out and drain it, then put it in a pot, add appropriate amount of hot water, a tablespoon of lard or vegetable oil, boil it over high heat and then simmer it over low heat for half an hour. If using a pressure cooker, simmer for 8 minutes until cooked.

Steamed rice with salt:

This method is only used when re-steaming leftover rice. If you can’t finish the leftover rice, you need to re-steam it before eating it. Re-steamed rice always has a smell and is not as delicious as freshly steamed rice. If you add a small amount of salt water when steaming leftover rice, you can remove the peculiar smell of the rice.

Steamed rice with tea:

Steaming rice with tea water can make the rice have good color, fragrance and nutrition, and it has the benefits of removing greasiness, cleaning the mouth, digesting food and providing vitamins.

The method is: take 0.5-1 gram of tea leaves according to the amount of rice, soak it in 500-1000 ml of boiling water for 5 minutes, then filter out the tea leaves, pour the filtered tea water into the washed rice, and steam it as usual.
