How is cervical spondylosis formed

As people spend longer and longer time looking at computers and playing with mobile phones, especially those who sit for long periods of time at work, cervical spondylosis often occurs and the cervical spine often feels pain. Severe cervical spondylosis can lead to many complications, such as insufficient blood supply to the brain, which causes the eyes to be unable to see, and headaches. How does cervical spondylosis develop? Cervical spondylosis is caused by long-term bad habits and can even be said to be an occupational disease.

Cervical spondylosis, also known as cervical spondylosis, is a general term for cervical osteoarthritis, hypertrophic cervical spondylitis, cervical radiculitis, and cervical disc herniation. It is a disease based on degenerative pathological changes. It is mainly caused by long-term strain of the cervical spine, bone hyperplasia, or herniated disc, ligament thickening, which leads to compression of the cervical spinal cord, nerve roots or vertebral arteries, resulting in a series of clinical syndromes of functional disorders. It manifests as vertebral instability and loosening; nucleus pulposus protrusion or extrusion; bone spur formation; ligament hypertrophy and secondary spinal canal stenosis, etc., which stimulate or compress adjacent nerve roots, spinal cord, vertebral arteries, cervical sympathetic nerves and other tissues, causing a series of symptoms and signs.

Cervical spondylosis can be divided into: cervical type cervical spondylosis, nerve root type cervical spondylosis, spinal cord type cervical spondylosis, vertebral artery type cervical spondylosis, sympathetic nerve type cervical spondylosis, and esophageal compression type cervical spondylosis.

Causes of cervical spondylosis

First, age factor: With the growth of age, various organs and tissues of the human body begin to degenerate to varying degrees, especially the cervical spine, which generally begins to degenerate at the age of 20. The degeneration of the cervical spine and cervical intervertebral discs is the key factor causing cervical spondylosis.

Second, neck strain: In daily life and work, chronic strain of the neck is an important cause of cervical spondylosis. For example, people in occupations such as web editors, network promotions, programmers, accountants, teachers, etc., because they keep the head and neck in the same posture for a long time, excessive strain and progression of the cervical spine are caused, which easily induces the occurrence of cervical spondylosis.

Third, neck trauma: Studies have found that after the human cervical spine and cervical intervertebral disc degenerate and the cervical spine becomes unstable, trauma to the head and neck is often an important cause of cervical spondylosis.

Fourth, chronic infection: Inflammatory diseases such as periodontitis, otitis media, pharyngitis, etc., if not completely cured, the inflammation will often affect the cervical spine tissue and cause spasm, atrophy, degeneration, ligament relaxation, etc., destroying the local integrity and stability, leading to internal and external imbalance, and thus inducing cervical spondylosis.
