My finger got poked in the ball and my joint got swollen

Exercise is an activity that people attach great importance to in life. However, exercise also brings some risks to the body. For example, soft tissue strain and bone trauma are very common during exercise. Among them, playing basketball has the highest injury rate, which often causes bruises to athletes' fingers, joint inflammation and other problems. Let’s take a look at how to deal with swollen joints caused by poking your fingers while playing ball.

Swollen and painful finger joints are a chronic joint disease, the main pathological changes of which are degeneration of articular cartilage and secondary bone hyperplasia. This irreversible disease cannot be completely cured, but it can be well controlled and gradually improved through regular treatment. Therefore, patients are required to detect and treat it early, and actively cooperate with various treatments.

1. Non-hormonal anti-inflammatory drugs

It mainly achieves anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects by inhibiting the synthesis of prostaglandins. This type of drug can also increase the stability of lysosomal membranes and reduce the release of enzymes. However, this type of drug can only relieve symptoms but cannot control the progression of the disease. Such drugs include: ① indomethacin; ② aspirin; ③ piroxicam; ④ ibuprofen; ⑤ naproxen; ⑥ flufenamic acid, etc.

2. Relief drugs

Can affect the immune response pathological process of the disease. Such drugs include: ① gold salts; ② penicillamine; ③ chloroquine and its derivatives; ④ levamisole, etc.

3. Adrenal glucocorticoids

The indications for use are: ① When conventional treatment is ineffective, it can be used in combination with first- and second-line drugs. ②Severe extra-articular complications, such as pericarditis, pleurisy, vasculitis and iridocyclitis.

4. Immunosuppressants

Also known as “third-line” drugs. It can be used for patients who are ineffective or have severe reactions to first- and second-line drug treatments. Such drugs include: ① cyclosporine; ② sulfasalazine; ③ cyclophosphamide; ④ azathioprine; ⑤ methotrexate, etc.

5. Molecular Immunology

Such drugs include: ① interferon-γ; ② specific antibodies (McAb), etc.

6. Others

For joint pain caused by degeneration, physical therapy and painkillers can temporarily relieve pain, but they cannot change the fundamental problem of cartilage loss.
