Can Gastrodia elata cure dizziness

The feeling of dizziness has a great impact on people's lives. Generally speaking, dizziness can hinder the patient's normal rhythm of life and the possibility of suffering from disease is extremely high. Therefore, people must pay attention to the phenomenon of dizziness. When dizziness occurs, people can use medication to relieve it. Among them, traditional Chinese medicine is one of the most popular choices. Let's take a look at whether eating Gastrodia elata can cure dizziness?

Generally speaking, Gastrodia elata has the effect of calming the liver and extinguishing wind. It is suitable for vertigo caused by hyperactivity of liver yang or liver wind, such as vertigo caused by hypertension, vertigo caused by arteriosclerosis and otopathic vertigo (Meniere's syndrome). It can be decocted and taken alone at 15 grams, or stewed with Gastrodia elata into duck (or hen). It can also be used in combination with other liver-calming and wind-extinguishing medicines such as chrysanthemum, Uncaria rhynchophylla, mother-of-pearl, and Cassia seed according to the condition of the disease.

If the patient has liver wind and phlegm and suffers from dizziness, chest tightness, or even nausea, vomiting of phlegm, and white greasy tongue coating, use 10 grams of Gastrodia elata together with Pinellia ternata, Chenpi, Atractylodes macrocephala, Alisma orientalis and other medicines, all of which have reliable effects.

However, if the dizziness is caused by insufficient Qi and blood or kidney deficiency, Gastrodia elata is generally not suitable, or cannot be used as the main medicine.

For example, dizziness caused by insufficient Qi and blood may be accompanied by mental fatigue, sallow complexion, palpitations, insomnia or shallow sleep, and dizziness aggravated by slight exertion. This condition can only be treated with drugs that replenish qi and blood, such as ginseng, astragalus, angelica, white peony root, etc. If the qi and blood are replenished, the dizziness will naturally improve.

Dizziness caused by kidney deficiency may cause dizziness, blurred vision, tinnitus in the ears like cicadas, pale and dull complexion, sore waist and weak legs, impotence and spermatorrhea in men and clear and thin vaginal discharge in women. It can be treated by tonifying the kidney. Medicinal ingredients include cooked rehmannia, cornus officinalis, yam, magnet, etc.

If Gastrodia elata is used to treat the above two symptoms, the effect will naturally not be good.

Therefore, the application of Gastrodia elata should be based on syndrome differentiation and treatment of the specific condition. When using the medicine at home, if you cannot master the rules of using this product, it is best to ask a doctor for guidance so that better therapeutic effects can be achieved.
