Can water hyacinth purify the air?

When it comes to the plant water hyacinth, what everyone must think of is its reproductive ability, because water hyacinth is particularly easy to cause eutrophication of water bodies. Therefore, if you plant water hyacinth, you must be cautious and take care of it regularly, otherwise the phenomenon of eutrophication of water bodies will be rather pessimistic. This plant is more suitable for outdoor growth, but some people like to plant it indoors. So can water hyacinth purify the air?

Water hyacinth survives and reproduces tenaciously outdoors, and can survive indoors, but it needs enough space. It is certainly not a problem for water hyacinth to survive indoors, but the difference between wild plants and cultivated plants lies in their ornamental value. Therefore, if you want to keep water hyacinth blooming, the water used for cultivation must be rich in nutrients (you can use nutrient solution to save trouble). Finally, a warning: if water hyacinth reproduces in the wild through water, air, etc., it will cause irreparable losses.

Indoor cultivation of water hyacinth

It is actually very simple to grow water hyacinth indoors, but you must not be too diligent. Water hyacinth cannot survive in clean water. If you change its water frequently or keep it in a clean fish tank, it will hardly survive. If you use river water, especially dead river water, to grow water hyacinth, you will definitely get twice the result with half the effort, because water hyacinth needs a lot of humus to grow.

The harm of water hyacinth

Water hyacinth is an alien species, and its original introduction was intended to inhibit the massive reproduction of algae. Now, the problem of algae infestation has not been solved, and water hyacinth has occupied a large number of water areas, causing the water hyacinth disaster that everyone is afraid of. Water hyacinth itself has a strong ability to purify sewage, but the wildly growing water hyacinth covers the water surface, blocks sunlight, and affects the growth of underwater organisms. In addition, due to its extremely fast reproduction rate, it consumes a large amount of dissolved oxygen in the water during its growth, resulting in the bodies of fish and shrimps everywhere in the waters where water hyacinths are found, greatly destroying the ecological balance.

At the same time, water hyacinth has no natural enemies and can only be eliminated by manual fishing. However, it is impossible to completely eradicate water hyacinth by salvaging, so the water hyacinth disaster has always been one of the serious environmental pollution problems that has attracted much attention from the society.
