Difference between Throat and Larynx:

The cavity formed between the uvula and the tongue, including the tonsils (its posterior wall is called the posterior pharyngeal wall), is called the oropharynx; the cavity from the uvula to the back end of the nasal cavity (which can only be seen with the help of a nasopharyngeal endoscope) is called the nasopharynx; the cavity from the root of the tongue downward to the upper edge of the epiglottis (which can only be seen with an indirect laryngoscope) is the laryngopharynx; and the larynx is further down from the laryngopharynx. The pharynx and larynx are both components of the upper respiratory tract, and their mucous membranes are continuous with each other. Of course, it is difficult to clearly distinguish whether the disease is in the oropharynx or the laryngopharynx. This is why it is difficult to clearly define pharyngitis and pharyngitis. However, laryngitis and pharyngitis can be clearly distinguished because the function of the larynx is to produce sound. Only when there is a change in the sound does it indicate a laryngeal disease.

Anatomically, the pharynx can be divided into three parts: the nasopharynx, the oropharynx, and the laryngopharynx. The nasopharynx is located at the back of the nose. The oropharynx is located at the back of the mouth and includes the tonsils. The hypopharynx or lower laryngopharynx is also called the hypopharynx.
