How should pituitary tumors be diagnosed?

In fact, many diseases can be completely cured if they are diagnosed in the early stages and treated in time. Not all diseases are terrible. Even if you have a tumor, it is not incurable if it is discovered early. This is the case with pituitary tumors today. Let us now understand how to diagnose pituitary tumors.

Pituitary tumor is not a minor disease. Patients with pituitary tumor should pay attention to this disease and pay more attention to the causes. This disease has nothing to do with age. Let's see how to diagnose it:

Endocrine examination: The current endocrine indicators for diagnosing functional pituitary adenomas are: serum PRL>30μg/L, serum GH>5μg/L, UFC>80μg/24 hours, ACTH>40pg/ml. A glucose GH suppression test should be performed; for those with elevated cortisol, a dexamethasone suppression test should be performed to assist in the diagnosis. There are many reasons for high prolactin, but the higher the prolactin, the more likely it is that a pituitary tumor has been diagnosed.

It is not difficult to diagnose pituitary tumors based on their symptoms. For example, if there is amenorrhea, lactation, and a significant increase in prolactin, and MRI shows that the tumor is 2 cm in diameter, it is diagnosed as a macroprolactinoma. If the patient has acromegaly, diabetes, and increased serum growth hormone, and MRI shows that the pituitary gland is enlarged, the diagnosis of growth hormone adenoma is clear.

Such as visual impairment, bilateral temporal hemianopsia in the visual field, low levels of adrenal, gonadal and thyroid hormones, and no abnormal increase in prolactin and growth hormone. MRI showed that the tumor was 4 cm in size and was diagnosed as a non-functional giant pituitary adenoma.

How to take care of pituitary tumors:

1. Strengthen physical exercise to enhance your physical fitness, improve your resistance to disease, enhance your immune function and prevent viral infection.

2. Reduce and avoid exposure to radioactive radiation, especially during the bone development period of adolescents.

3. Eliminate the patient's fear, anxiety, and even despair. Explain the purpose of the surgery to the patient in a timely manner, list the cases of cure, arrange to talk with the patient who has undergone surgery and achieved good results, so that the patient can build up confidence in overcoming the disease.
