Being haunted while sleeping

Being haunted while sleeping

Being possessed by nightmares while sleeping is called sleep paralysis. To put it more horribly, it is called sleep paralysis. Specifically, it means that when a person is asleep, he or she has a horrible dream and is so frightened that he or she screams or shouts; or, when a person is asleep, he or she always feels like something is pressing on the body and cannot move, which is very uncomfortable. So, what is the cause of this physiological phenomenon of being haunted while sleeping?

Nightmares can be said to be a normal psychological phenomenon that has nothing to do with ghosts. They are usually more likely to occur when people are under great stress, overly tired, have an irregular schedule, suffer from insomnia, or are anxious. Science shows that nightmares are caused by transient cerebral ischemia during sleep. When transient cerebral ischemia occurs during the day, people will experience terrible symptoms of dizziness, palpitations, chest pressure, black eyes, tinnitus and various neurological dysfunctions.

Another reason for nightmares is incorrect sleeping posture. For example, if you put your hands on your chest and press on your heart while sleeping, you will feel difficulty breathing without realizing it, which will lead to nightmares. Sleeping on your back or lying down can also easily cause nightmares. Therefore, sleeping posture is very important.

Some people have nightmares because they are under too much stress. Generally, everyone will encounter nightmares in their life. Don't be afraid, these are all normal. But if you have nightmares frequently, you should be careful, as this may be a mental illness and it is best to consult a counselor or psychologist.

Mainly due to the influence of mental factors. Listening to exciting stories or watching thrilling movies before bed, or improperly educating or using threats to coax children to sleep. In addition, the bedroom air is polluted and overheated; the bedding is too thick and puts pressure on the chest; nasopharyngeal diseases cause poor respiratory ventilation; overeating at dinner causes a bloated feeling in the stomach, as well as intermittent hypoglycemia, etc.

What to do if you are in a nightmare while sleeping

1Correct sleeping posture

Nightmares are closely related to sleeping posture. Lying flat or using a pillow that is too high can cause nightmares. Studies show that people who sleep on their side are much less likely to experience nightmares.

2. Avoid fatigue

Once, I took a long-distance bus ride and fell asleep because I was so tired and sleepy. As a result, I had a nightmare. With a normal schedule and a lifestyle that combines work and rest, your sleep quality will naturally be high and you will not have nightmares.

3. Eat right

Eating too much is also an important cause of nightmares. Going to bed right after eating is bad for the stomach and can easily cause indigestion, increasing the burden on the body. The brain is busy directing the sleeping stomach to digest food, and nightmares occur when the nerves are overactive.

4. Learn to wake up

Nightmares can be long or short, but you have to learn to control them. If you are unable to move and cannot call for help, you should save yourself. Try licking the roof of your mouth with your tongue, and the nightmare will disappear in a moment.

5. Have a good attitude

You should maintain a good attitude in your daily life, otherwise you will have poor sleep, and you will be prone to having nightmares or even nightmares. You should take everything easy.

6. Ask for help

People who often have nightmares, or whose lives are affected by them, should seek psychological help. Nightmares are also called sleep paralysis. It’s okay if they happen occasionally, but if they happen all the time, you should see a doctor.
