If a patient needs intravenous treatment every day, in order to avoid the pain of daily injections, an intravenous needle is often used on the back of the hand, which makes it convenient for injections every day. However, patients must also understand the precautions for intravenous catheters, such as protecting the needle and not touching it, and paying attention to whether it falls off; in addition, pay attention to whether there is a possibility of infection. 1. Precautions for patients using intravenous catheters (1) Pay attention to the protection of the puncture site, avoid excessive force or strenuous activities of the limbs, and avoid Prevent limbs from sagging; (2) If the puncture site feels red, swollen, hot, or painful, please tell the nurse immediately; (3) Do not scratch the infusion patch or remove the needle by yourself, and do not adjust the drip rate at will; (4) When washing your hands and face, pay attention to protecting the puncture site and do not get it wet; if the film becomes wet or falls off, inform the nurse immediately and they will replace it. (5) Instruct the patient to call a nurse immediately if he or she feels unwell. 2. Precautions for patients using infusion pumps (1) Instruct the patient not to move his/her limbs violently during the infusion process to prevent the infusion tube from being pulled out; (2) Leave enough space when turning over to prevent pulling out; (3) Inform patients and their families not to adjust intravenous pump parameters or move infusion pumps at will. Ensure the safety of infusion; (4) Patients should promptly notify medical staff if they feel unwell or the machine alarm sounds. 3. Precautions for patients with oxygen inhalation (1) Instruct the patient to stop taking oxygen when eating or drinking to prevent abdominal distension caused by accidental aspiration or swallowing of excessive gas. (2) Advise patients and their families not to remove nasal congestion or adjust oxygen flow at will. (3) If you feel any discomfort during oxygen inhalation, you should inform medical staff immediately. (4) Inform patients about the safety of using oxygen, keep away from open flames and prohibit smoking indoors when using oxygen. IV. Precautions 1. When using an intravenous catheter, the aseptic technical operating procedures must be strictly followed. 2. Closely observe changes in the patient's vital signs and local conditions. Before and after each infusion, check the puncture site and the direction of the vein for redness or swelling, and ask the patient whether he or she has any pain or discomfort. If there are any abnormal conditions, the catheter should be removed promptly and appropriate treatment should be given. For those who still need infusion, the limb should be replaced and punctured again. 3. The limbs with intravenous catheters should be properly fixed, and the movement of the limbs should be minimized to avoid getting them wet. If you need to wash your face or take a bath, wrap the area with plastic wrap. For patients who can walk, intravenous needles should be avoided in the lower limbs to prevent blood from returning due to gravity and clogging the catheter. 4. Draw blood before each infusion and then flush the catheter with sterile saline. If there is no blood return and there is resistance to flushing, the catheter of the intravenous needle should be considered to be blocked. At this time, the intravenous needle should be removed. Remember not to push the syringe hard to avoid pushing the coagulated thrombus into the blood vessel and causing embolism. |
