Flat warts are a skin disease caused by a viral infection, which often occurs among adolescents. Because most of them grow on the face or hands, they can be transmitted through direct or indirect contact. Some patients may have symptoms of itching but do not know how to treat it. There are many ways to treat flat warts, including taking medication, applying ointment, or laser removal. There is also a method of treating flat warts with fire needles. Let's learn about it together. 1. Overview 1. Flat warts are a viral infectious disease Flat warts are a common contagious skin disease caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. A skin disease characterized by flesh-colored or light brown flat papules on the face, neck, limbs, chest and back. It has the characteristics of contact transmission and self-inoculation transmission, so it is easy to form a linear rash after scratching. 2. Characteristics of flat warts It is common in teenagers and the elderly as well. A few can heal on their own, but most are difficult to heal and tend to spread and increase over time. If it occurs in exposed parts, it will seriously affect the appearance. If it does not heal for a long time, it will easily cause a great psychological and economic burden. It is recommended to treat as much as possible! 2. Diagnosis 1. Flat papules (1) The skin is covered with flat papules ranging in size from a needle tip to a grain of rice. They are smooth, light brown or normal skin color, and round, oval, or polygonal in shape. (2) The number is often large, ranging from dozens to thousands. Can be scattered or densely distributed. 2. Often no symptoms Generally there are no subjective symptoms, but may be accompanied by slight itching. During the progressive stage, itching becomes more obvious. 3. Predisposing sites It often occurs on the face, back of hands, forearms, chest, etc. 4. Prognosis No scars are usually left after healing. Prone to relapse. 3. Treatment Overview 1. Traditional Chinese Medicine Textbooks often start with the diagnosis of wind-heat accumulation and heat and blood stasis, and use Chinese medicine for internal and external application for treatment. The course of treatment is approximately 1 to 3 months. The effectiveness varies from person to person! Personally, I think that individualized treatment based on syndrome differentiation is very important. Oral treatment with Chinese medicine focuses on regulating the physical constitution, strengthening the vital energy, and preventing or reducing recurrence. 2. Western medicine Laser cauterization, podophyllotoxin tincture, miquimod ointment and other external treatments are commonly used. Some immunomodulators are often used for oral administration, such as pidotimod tablets, etc., and succinic acid injection can also be injected. The treatment course is long, and it takes about 3-6 months to achieve better results. Some patients often use cryotherapy, but I personally do not recommend it. Freezing can easily lead to the spread of viruses. 4. Fire Needle Therapy (the most convenient and economical method) 1. Acupuncture points Ashi point is the place where the skin is damaged. 2. Needle selection and angle Coarse fire needle (suitable for rashes smaller than 1mm in size), oblique needling method. Three-pointed fire needle (suitable for larger skin lesions), direct puncture method. 3. Operation method (1) Routinely disinfect the affected skin. Choose an appropriate fire needle according to the size of the lesion. After burning it on an alcohol lamp until it turns white, quickly pierce the lesion vertically or obliquely, with the needle tip reaching the base of the lesion. Do not pierce too deep, otherwise it will easily leave scars. After all acupuncture is completed, disinfection should be done again. (2) The operation of the fire needle should be fast, accurate, steady and skillful. 4. Precautions after fire needle treatment (1) The treated area must not come into contact with raw water for three days to prevent infection. (2) Moxa sticks can be used to fumigate the treatment area. 10-20 minutes each time, allowing the skin lesions to scab over faster, fall off faster, and recover better! (3) After scab forms 2 days after treatment, do not rub or scratch, otherwise it will easily leave pigmentation and scars. (4) The scab will fall off in about a week, but pigmentation may be left behind. It will take some time to recover. The longer the condition lasts, the more obvious the pigmentation will be. Recovery time varies greatly from person to person. Taking some Chinese medicine based on syndrome differentiation can help promote repair and reduce recurrence. (5) Fire needle treatment may require 1-3 times, or even more times. (6) Within one week after fire needle treatment, avoid eating spicy food, eat a light diet, and make sure to get enough rest and sleep. |
