The eyes are one of the most important parts of the human body. If there are certain problems with the eyes, it will have a certain impact on people's vision. Impaired vision will greatly affect the patient's normal work and life, so it is necessary to find out the cause and treat it in time. Many people experience eye pain, which may be caused by diseases such as corneal and conjunctival lesions, visual fatigue, and supraorbital neuralgia. 1. Keratoconjunctival lesions The cornea is commonly known as the black part of the eye, and the conjunctiva is commonly known as the surface of the white part of the eye. When the cornea and conjunctiva are inflamed due to microbial infection or stimulation by physical and chemical factors, there will often be stinging and aching pain in the eyes. The acute phase is often accompanied by red eyes, increased eye discharge, fear of light, increased tears, etc. In chronic inflammation, there may be only mild eye stinging or grinding pain, and stones may form in the conjunctiva of the eyelids. 2. Visual fatigue This situation is common among people who work in close proximity for long periods of time, such as students, editors, writers, etc. Eye pain usually presents as soreness, difficulty opening the eye, and easy tearing, and often gets better with rest. If there is refractive error (such as hyperopia, astigmatism), the refractive power of the two eyes is quite different, the eye's ability to accommodate age-related decline, and wearing inappropriate glasses will make it more likely for eye pain and fatigue to occur. In this case, you need to have an accurate eye test, wear a pair of suitable glasses (especially for close reading), and pay attention to proper rest. After rest, the soreness and fatigue of the eyes can be gradually relieved. You can also try some anti-fatigue eye drops to promote improvement of symptoms. 3. Supraorbital neuralgia It is neuralgia of unknown cause. Because the supraorbital nerve innervates the upper orbit and the surrounding skin, the eye pain is often a tingling pain in the orbit and its surrounding area, and some people may also have pain in the eyeball. This disease is characterized by marked tenderness over the supraorbital nerve. Treatment can be symptomatic, and analgesics can relieve pain. Acupuncture and physical therapy can help relieve this type of neuralgia. The above three types of eye pain are not glaucoma. Glaucoma is usually caused by the obstruction of aqueous humor circulation in the eye, which leads to increased pressure in the eye. When the pressure inside the eyeball increases, eye pain, eye socket or nose root pain often occur. During an acute congestive glaucoma attack, the intraocular pressure can rise to over 70 mmHg, and severe eye pain and headache often occur, accompanied by red eyes, decreased vision, nausea and vomiting. Many patients often first visit the internal medicine or neurology department, which leads to delays in the treatment of their condition. In this case, you need to go to the ophthalmology department for emergency treatment, use medication to lower intraocular pressure, improve water circulation in the eye, and save visual function. Emergency surgery is required if necessary. |
