What to do if a blister forms after being bitten by an insect

Of course, if you are bitten by a mosquito or other small insect, you can try toilet water first. Floral water is not expensive but can be used to treat herpes caused by various insect bites, or for prickly heat in summer. Some people will use some methods that we don’t see often, that is, using their own saliva. Don’t let your saliva get dirty, as saliva is alkaline and very effective for treating mosquito bites. So why does toilet water work for insect bites?

Floral water is a summer hygiene product used to remove sweat odor after bathing and to remove foul air in public places. In addition, floral water has a certain disinfecting and bactericidal effect. It can relieve itching and swelling when applied to mosquito bites and insect bites. It can also relieve itching and give a cool and comfortable feeling when applied to skin affected by prickly heat. The fragrance should be easy to diffuse and have a certain ability to last for a long time. Floral water is mainly composed of ethanol, essence and distilled water, supplemented with a small amount of chelating agent, antioxidant and sun-fast water-soluble pigment. The colors should be light lake blue, green and yellow. The amount of flavor used is generally between 2% and 5%, and the alcohol concentration is 70% to 75%. Traditionally, fragrances are based on fragrant lavender oil. Some products use oriental perfume scents (such as rose and musk) to enhance the fragrance retention ability, which is called floral perfume.

Floral water is a perfume product made with floral oil as the main fragrance and alcohol. The main raw materials of floral water are alcohol, essence, distilled water, supplemented with a small amount of chelating agent sodium citrate, antioxidant di-tert-butylparacresol, etc. Its main ingredients are: neroli oil, rose geranium oil, lemon oil, benzoic acid, bergamot oil and alcohol. Some commercially available toilet water now contains menthol and borneol to make it more refreshing.

Like perfume, the largest ingredient in toilet water is alcohol. Floral water is made of about 3% essence, about 70% alcohol and 25% water. The fragrance content in perfume is 5~20%. Floral water is a perfume product made from alcohol. The essence used in toilet water is slightly inferior and the content is also lower, generally 1-3%, so the fragrance is not as long-lasting as other alcohol solution perfumes. The fragrance needed to make floral water is mostly based on fragrant lavender oil, but rose and musk types are also used.

The alcohol concentration of the fragrance needed to make floral water is 70-75%. This ratio can easily penetrate into the bacteria, thus having a strong disinfecting and sterilizing effect. In order to prevent precipitation, a small amount of chelating agent (sodium citrate), antioxidant (di-tert-butyl-p-cresol) and sun-fast alcohol-soluble pigment can be added. The fragrance of floral water is mainly fresh, and the most popular one is the fragrance based on lavender oil. The color of toilet water is mainly light, including light green, yellow-green, lake blue, etc.

Since the ingredients of floral water contain some traditional Chinese medicines that can clear away heat, detoxify, reduce swelling and relieve pain, in addition to removing prickly heat and relieving itching, refreshing the mind, and preventing mosquito bites, floral water also has certain bactericidal and sterilization effects.

Pharmacological effects

Refreshing and itchy

When washing your hair or taking a bath, drop 5 to 6 drops of floral water into the water, soak your hair in it first, and then start the normal washing process to remove bacteria in the hair. When taking a bath, add 8 to 10 drops of floral water into the bathtub, which also has the effects of cooling, sterilizing, removing prickly heat and relieving itching.

Clean your hands

When riding the bus, subway, shopping in a mall or going on an outing, your hands will inevitably touch public railings and handrails. At this time, you can drop some floral water into your palms and rub your hands together, which can have a good cleansing effect.

Wipe the mat

In summer, people often lie naked on mats to rest. After a long time, sweat will stain the mat and make people feel very uncomfortable. If you wipe the mat with clean water with a few drops of floral water every day, you can keep the mat fresh and clean. Of course, it is best to wipe along the grain of the mat so that the toilet water can penetrate into the gaps in the grain of the mat. This way, the cool, comfortable feeling will last longer.

Soaking masks and towels

Fill a half basin with clean water, add 4 to 5 drops of floral water, put the washed towels, masks, etc. in it, and soak for about 15 minutes; or boil the masks with water to disinfect them, rinse them, and expose them in the sun. Before use, add 1 to 2 drops of floral water, which can have a certain sterilization effect.

Wipe telephones and mobile phones

Dip a paper towel in a little toilet water and wipe the phone body, receiver and buttons or mobile phone to keep the phone or mobile phone clean.

Spraying the room

Mix clean water and floral water in a ratio of 40:1, put it into a spray bottle and spray it evenly on the floor of the room (especially the dead corners of the room), then close the doors and windows for 10 minutes, and then open the windows for ventilation. Do it once in the morning and once in the evening (if conditions permit, you can spray it more often) to make the room air clean and fresh.

Cleaning underwear

Because underwear is worn close to the body and is in direct contact with the skin, it should not be mixed with other clothes for washing and must be washed separately. When washing, first add a few drops of floral water to the laundry water (generally 4 to 5 drops of floral water to half a basin of water is enough), then spread out the underwear and place it in it, soaking for about 15 minutes. Then rub it repeatedly with soap, rinse it with clean water, and hang it outdoors (preferably in a sunny place). This way, the underwear will be fragrant and refreshing after washing.

Acne

If there are some pimples on your face that cannot be removed, you can use floral water. Apply 3 to 5 drops to the acne-prone areas at night and you will see the effect the next day.
