Dogs are good friends of human beings. But many people also know that dogs carry a lot of bacteria. If you are bitten by a dog, you need to get a rabies vaccine. So, does it mean that if you are scratched by a puppy's teeth and bleed, you don't need to treat it? In fact, this view is wrong. The rabies virus also exists in puppies, so when we are scratched by the teeth of puppies, we also need to be injected with rabies vaccine. If you are scratched by a dog's teeth, first check whether the scratched area is broken and bleeding. If there is no skin breakage or bleeding, then it is okay and you do not need to get an injection. You will not get rabies. If the skin is broken and bleeding: 1. Pay attention to cleaning the wound 2 Disinfect with 2-3% iodine or 75% alcohol 3. Do not suture the wound 4 Go to the local epidemic prevention center or hospital as soon as possible to get the human rabies vaccine. The price of rabies vaccine for humans is around 300-500 yuan, and the prices vary from place to place. There are 5 injections in total, which will be completed in one month. Rabies is an acute infectious disease caused by the rabies virus. It is common in humans and animals and is more common in carnivorous animals such as dogs, wolves, and cats. Most people are infected by being bitten by sick animals. The clinical manifestations include unique fear of water, fear of wind, pharyngeal muscle spasm, progressive paralysis, etc. Because the symptoms of hydrophobia are more prominent, this disease is also called hydrophobia. Rabies virus belongs to the genus Lyssavirus in the family Rhabdoviridae. It is a single-stranded RNA virus that is transmitted by animals through biting each other. Rabies in our country is mainly transmitted by dogs, and domestic dogs can become asymptomatic carriers, so seemingly "healthy" dogs can pose a great threat to human health. There is still a lack of effective treatment for rabies. The mortality rate of humans suffering from rabies is nearly 100%. Patients generally die from respiratory or circulatory failure within 3 to 6 days, so preventive measures should be strengthened. It is mainly caused by the rabies virus transmitted from animals to humans. Rabies virus contains five proteins, namely glycoprotein (G), nucleoprotein (N), polymerase (L), phosphoprotein (NS) and matrix (M). The glycoprotein of rabies virus can bind to acetylcholine, which determines the neurotropic nature of rabies virus. The main sources of infection are sick dogs, followed by sick cats and sick wolves. When a person is bitten by a sick animal, the virus in the animal's saliva enters the human body through the wound and causes the disease. A small number of patients may also become ill because their conjunctiva is contaminated by the saliva of sick animals. Humans are generally susceptible to rabies, and hunters, veterinarians, and people who raise animals are even more susceptible. After the rabies virus enters the human body, it first infects muscle cells, proliferates in small amounts in the muscle cells near the wound, and then invades nearby peripheral nerves. The virus then spreads centripetally along the axons of the peripheral nerves to the central nervous system, and does not spread through the blood, mainly invading neurons in the brainstem and cerebellum. The virus replicates in large quantities in the gray matter and travels down along the nerves to the salivary glands, cornea, nasal mucosa, lungs, skin and other parts. The main damage caused by rabies virus to the host comes from endogloboid bodies, which are eosinophilic granules formed by the aggregation of its discarded protein shell within the cell. Endogloboid bodies are widely distributed in the patient's central nervous cells and are also an indicator for the laboratory diagnosis of this disease. Not all people will develop the disease after being infected. About 15% to 20% of those bitten by sick dogs and not given preventive vaccinations will develop the disease, and about 50% to 60% of those bitten by sick wolves will develop the disease. The factors causing the disease are related to the site of the bite, the degree of trauma, wound treatment, the thickness of clothing, and whether or not the vaccine has been administered. |
