How to remove urine stains

How to remove urine stains

Being clean and tidy not only leaves a good impression on others, but is also very helpful to your own health. But we are in a hurry during the day and it is easy for us to get stains. There are many methods on the Internet for removing common stains from clothes, such as oil stains, ink marks, blood stains, etc. But do you know how to effectively remove urine stains? What are your go-to methods for removing urine stains when bathroom interruptions occur?

1. Acetate, carpet synthetic fiber or wool fiberglass, rayon, silk, triacetate, wool

To remove urine stains, sponge with cold water by moistening a sponge pad and gently wiping from the center of the stain to the outside, or immediately dilute the stain with club soda. Apply some water-based stain remover and a few drops of ammonia to the urine stain. Silk and wool should not be treated with ammonia. Cover the urine stain with an absorbent pad soaked in water-based stain remover. Cover long enough to remove all of the stain. Once the pad has absorbed the urine stain, it should be replaced. Keep both the absorbent pad and the urine stain moist with a water-based stain remover and ammonia. Then rinse with clean water, that is, through the stain remover, to clean away some of the dye and stain remover residues from the urine stain, and then apply some water-based stain remover and a few drops of white vinegar. Rinse the fabric clean with water and repeat the process as necessary. Finally let dry. When treating carpets, follow all procedures with Stain-X Carpet Stain Remover, Up & Out (not for wool) or Afta Carpet Stain Remover.

2. Acrylic, cotton, linen, modacrylic, nylon, polyolefin fiber, polyester, spandex

Rinse the urine stain immediately with water or club soda. Add 1/2 teaspoon of liquid dishwashing detergent or fabric stain remover and 1 tablespoon of ammonia to about 1 liter of warm water and soak the stained fabric in the mixture for 30 minutes. Next, rinse with water. If the urine stain remains, soak it in a mixture of about 1 liter of warm water and 1 tablespoon of white vinegar for 1 hour. Be extra cautious when using white vinegar on cotton and linen fabrics. Rinse well with water and let dry. If the urine stain is still there, try applying rubbing alcohol on it and then lightly brushing it. That is, use a brush to lightly brush the surface urine stain on the contaminated wear-resistant fabric or other material. Don't apply pure rubbing alcohol to acrylic or modacrylic—dilute the alcohol to one part with two parts water first. When the urine stain begins to loosen, use an absorbent pad to absorb the liquid and the urine stain. Keep both the absorbent pad and the urine stain moist with alcohol, and replace the pad after it has absorbed the urine stain. Finally, let the fabric dry.

Dry stain remover:

To prepare a dry stain remover, mix 1 part coconut oil (available at pharmacies and health food stores) with 80% liquid dry cleaning agent. You can store the stain remover for later use if the container is tightly closed to prevent the solvent from evaporating. Coconut oil can also be replaced with mineral oil, but the former is more effective.

WARNING: Dry cleaning chemicals are toxic and some are flammable.

Water-based detergent:

To prepare a water-based detergent, mix glycerin, white dishwashing detergent, and water in a ratio of 1:1:8. Shake well before each use. Water-based stain removers should be stored in plastic squeeze bottles.
