How to read the thermometer

How to read the thermometer

Thermometer is a very commonly used medical item in daily life. It plays a key role in people's physical examination, so people always keep thermometers at home. However, many people in life do not know how to read the thermometer. In fact, it is very simple and easy to learn. You only need to shake the thermometer to a place without scale before picking it up, and then measure the temperature, and then judge the temperature through the watermark line in the middle.

1. Before use, shake the end without mercury with your hand until the mercury reaches the place without numbers. Then hold it under your armpit and hold it tightly for about three minutes. Take it out and start counting from the place with numbers. One square represents one degree.

2Is it the three-edged mercury one in the hospital? After measuring the body temperature, turn the metal end of the thermometer to the left through the middle, with the number 36.37 facing your body, then slightly turn the thermometer, and you can see the watermark line from the gap between the number and the scale (the scale on the other side). You need to find a light source when you turn.

After taking your temperature, hold one end of the thermometer in your right hand (not the silver-white end), with the numbers facing yourself, and gently rub the thermometer with your thumb and index finger. The number pointed to by the flashing white line in the middle of the thermometer is your temperature (this line is mercury, also called mercury, which flows out from the silver-white end. Before measuring your temperature each time, use the same method to hold the thermometer and gently shake the mercury to the silver-white end, below the number, and then measure again to be effective.) The normal armpit temperature is 36-37 degrees, the oral temperature is 36.2-37.2 degrees, and the rectal temperature is 0.3-0.5 degrees higher than the oral temperature.

3 The temperature of a normal human body is relatively constant. It fluctuates slightly within 24 hours, and the difference generally does not exceed 1 degree. Under physiological conditions, body temperature is slightly lower in the morning and slightly higher in the afternoon. The body temperature is slightly higher during exercise, after eating, before menstruation or during pregnancy for women, while the body temperature is lower in the elderly. A body temperature higher than normal is called fever, 37.5-38 degrees is low fever, 38-39 degrees is moderate fever, 39-40 degrees is high fever, and above 40 degrees is very high fever. Body temperature below normal is called hypothermia. A relatively constant body temperature is one of the important conditions for maintaining normal life activities. If the body temperature is higher than 41 degrees or too low, it will seriously affect the functional activities of various systems (especially the nervous system).
