Qufeng means to dispel wind, which is a term in traditional Chinese medicine. It mainly regulates the symptoms of physical discomfort through Chinese herbal medicines. The discomfort mentioned here mainly refers to the wind in traditional Chinese medicine, which is divided into internal wind and external wind. Dispelling wind is needed in the treatment of many diseases. We can understand some of the conditions in which the body is prone to requiring dispelling wind and actively regulate them. Let’s take a closer look at what wind-repelling means. Qufeng refers to regulating physical discomfort by taking Chinese medicine. This discomfort is what Chinese medicine believes: wind can be divided into internal wind and external wind. If a person is born with blood deficiency, or because of blood loss or blood consumption, his body will become dry, with symptoms such as weight loss, dry skin, and occasional dizziness. This is a sign of "internal wind". Principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine Traditional Chinese medicine believes that wind can be divided into internal wind and external wind. The wind generated by the flow of air in nature is external wind. Excessive wind can cause the skin on the surface of the body to lose moisture and become dry. Clinically, "dryness symptoms" such as dry and chapped skin can be seen in autumn and winter. This is the wind evil among the "six evils". The so-called "wind prevails and causes dryness", which can even make the face lose its softness and smoothness. If the person is born with blood deficiency, or because of blood loss or blood consumption, the body becomes dry, and the person becomes thin, has dry skin, and sometimes feels dizzy. This is a sign of "internal wind", and the person often has a haggard face, dry stool, toxin deposition, and a dull or chloasma face. Therefore, choosing traditional Chinese medicine that can dispel wind and nourish blood will have the effects of beautifying, moisturizing the skin, and removing spots. Wind-removing medicine Tianchong, also known as white silkworm, is the larvae of the silkworm, an insect of the Bombyx mori family. Before it spins silk, it is infected with a filamentous fungus and develops white muscardine disease, causing death. Its stiff corpse is used for medicinal purposes. It tastes pungent and salty, is neutral in nature, enters the liver and lung meridians, dispels wind and clears heat, extinguishes wind and tonifies the lungs. "Newly Revised Materia Medica" states that this product can: "make people look better", and "Compendium of Materia Medica" states that it can: "remove all kinds of wind from the skin, so it can eliminate blackheads and all kinds of scars from sores." Modern research believes that this product has anti-viral and anti-allergic functions, which is consistent with the so-called wind-removing, spasm-relieving, phlegm-resolving and knot-dispersing functions in traditional Chinese medicine. It can be used by those who have brown spots on the face or itchy skin due to liver qi disharmony, phlegm heat in the lungs, and disharmony of qi and blood. Mulberry leaves are the leaves of the deciduous tree mulberry tree in the Moraceae family. They are oval in shape and green in color. They turn yellow-green after drying. They taste bitter and sweet and are cold in nature. They enter the lung and stomach meridians, clear the lungs and dispel wind, calm the liver and regulate the blood. "Compendium of Materia Medica" says that it can "improve eyesight and grow hair", and "Shennong's Herbal Classic" says that it can "eliminate cold and heat and induce sweating." Modern pharmacological research shows that mulberry leaves contain flavonoids, phenols, amino acids, organic acids, carotene, vitamin B1 and a variety of trace elements, so they can dispel wind and heat, stop spontaneous sweating, improve eyesight and remove brown spots. Angelica dahurica is a perennial herb of the Umbelliferae family. Its roots are used as medicine. The dried roots are conical, about 5 to 6 inches long, and grayish white or grayish yellow in appearance. It tastes spicy and is warm in nature. It enters the spleen and stomach meridians. It can dispel wind, promote blood circulation and eliminate dampness. The "Compendium of Materia Medica" says that it "can treat red and white discharge, blood stasis, and vaginal swelling in women", and that it can "grow skin, moisturize it, and can be used as a facial cream". Li Dongyuan praised it, saying, "Its aroma is fragrant and can open the nine orifices." Many ancient beauty recipes use Angelica dahurica as the main ingredient. Modern research shows that the angelica extract, biotin and other ingredients contained in this product can dilate capillaries, regulate microcirculation, accelerate blood flow in the face and throughout the body, improve blood supply to the skin, and add radiance to the face. Mint is a perennial herb of the Lamiaceae family, and its dried stems and leaves are used for medicinal purposes. It tastes pungent and is cool in nature. It enters the liver and lung meridians. It is light and clear in nature and goes upward. It can eliminate skin rashes and prickly heat, remove bad breath in the mouth, clear the head and eyes, benefit the throat, ward off filth and evil, and eliminate acne. "Compendium of Materia Medica" points out that it can treat "wind itch and rashes". Applying an appropriate amount can remove spots and rashes and rejuvenate the skin. It is a commonly used beauty product. Cicada shell, also known as cicada molt, is the shell shed by the grasshopper cicada, an insect of the family Cicadidae. It is cold in nature, sweet in taste, enters the lung and liver meridians, dispels wind and heat, and clears turbidity in the lungs. "Compendium of Materia Medica" uses it to "treat wind-heat on the skin and itching caused by acne." Because of its light texture, ascending and dispersing properties, it is often used to treat swelling of the head and face, eczema, and rosacea. Modern research shows that this product can enhance the body's immune function and has antiviral effects. Acne and chloasma caused by metabolic disorders can be effectively treated with this product in combination with Tianchong, Rhubarb, and Peilan. Magnolia is the dried flower buds of the perennial plants of the Magnoliaceae family, such as Magnolia dahurica, Magnolia grandiflora or Magnolia wudangensis. It is light in texture, fragrant, spicy in taste, warm in nature, enters the lung and stomach meridians, can dispel wind and cold, and open the lungs and orifices. "Bencao Jingshu" says that it "controls the cold and heat of the five internal organs and the body", and has the effect of beautifying the complexion and moisturizing the skin and hair. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the lungs control the skin and hair, while the spleen (stomach) controls the muscles. Therefore, magnolia can nourish the skin, muscles, beautify the body, and nourish the hair and skin. |
