What causes cloudy eyes?

Many people experience blurred vision when they look at things. Blurred vision is mostly due to lens obstruction, cataract disease, retinal damage, or lack of trace elements in the eyes that causes the glass lens to become cloudy, so it becomes cloudy when looking at things. Patients can go to the hospital for an ophthalmic examination to check the eyeball and the inside of the eyeball to see if there are symptoms of lens opacity. They should also pay attention to maintenance and protect their eyes in daily life.

Causes

Degenerative, inflammatory, hemorrhagic, traumatic and systemic diseases.

Common causes include: vitreous degeneration in the elderly, retinal or uveal bleeding invading the vitreous, high myopia, congenital embryonic cells or tissues remaining in the vitreous, eye trauma, foreign bodies retained in the eye, parasites and tumors, etc.

Pathogenesis

The vitreous body itself has no blood vessels and nerves, and its nutrition comes from the adjacent retinal choroid and aqueous humor. Therefore, it is easily affected by surrounding tissues. Any factors that cause damage to the vitreous body or promote its nutritional metabolic disorders, which can cause metabolic changes in the vitreous body, can cause vitreous opacities. In addition, due to the oxidation reaction between light and vitamin C, oxygen and iron ions in the vitreous body, it can also degrade hyaluronic acid macromolecules, cause the collagen fiber scaffold to collapse and concentrate, and cause water to precipitate, resulting in vitreous opacity.

Diagnosis

1. Examination with an ophthalmoscope or 90D lens under a slit lamp shows that the opacities in the vitreous body in different forms, such as dust, strips, nets or flocs, float with the movement of the eyeball;

2. In severe cases, the fundus may not be visible or there may be no red reflection.

3. Type B ultrasound examination can assist in diagnosis.

1. Internal maintenance

(1) Get enough sleep and avoid staying up late.

(2) Drink plenty of water on a daily basis and avoid drinking large amounts of water before going to bed.

(3) Maintain an optimistic attitude and treat diseases promptly, especially endocrine disorders.

(4) Avoid direct sunlight.

(5) Avoid developing bad habits such as squinting, blinking, squeezing or rubbing your eyes.

2. External maintenance

(1) Makeup removal and cleansing: Because the skin around the eyes is very sensitive and delicate, you should be extremely careful when removing makeup. You must use special eye makeup remover products, such as: Marylan Pure Cleansing Oil, NUMAX Deep Cleansing Oil, etc.

(2) Choose appropriate eye care products: Currently, there are many eye care products on the market, including eye cream, eye gel, eye essence, etc. Eye cream is highly moisturizing and nourishing, suitable for people with wrinkles around the eyes; eye gel is a plant-based gel-like substance with mild ingredients, easy to absorb and non-greasy, suitable for dark circles, eye bags, etc. Generally, use essence first, then eye cream or eye gel. A mung bean-sized amount is sufficient. It is best to apply hot compress first and then apply, and combine with massage and acupressure for better results.
