What is the best way to kill ciliates

When farming aquatic products, ciliates are a major threat. The production of ciliates is related to bad feeding methods. For example, feeding poor quality feed such as rice bran and wheat bran will cause aquatic products to have poor ability to resist ciliates, thus affecting their growth. Ciliates are easy to appear, and some methods should be chosen to deal with them. So, what is the best way to kill ciliates? Let’s take a look at the method below.

Ciliates belong to the phylum Ciliates. Most ciliates have cilia at all stages of their life cycle and use cilia as organelles for movement. The cilia on the surface of the insect body swing rhythmically and sequentially, forming a wave-like motion. In addition, the cilia are slightly tilted in their arrangement, thus pushing the insect body forward in a spiral rotation. The insect body can also change the direction of movement and move backward by swinging its cilia in the opposite direction. There is an obvious cell mouth near the front end of the worm body, connected to the cytoplasm below, and a smaller cell anus at the rear end. Most ciliates live freely, while a few can parasitize in the digestive tracts of invertebrates and vertebrates. The only one of medical relevance is Balantidium coli.

Prevention and treatment methods

1. Soak a net shaped like a net box made of cloth in formaldehyde solution, 1-1.5 meters deep. Accurately calculate the water body and soak it in 200x10-6-300x10-6 formaldehyde + 10 g/m3 furazolidone for 30 minutes. When soaking, dissolve and dilute the medicine first and then sprinkle it evenly. During the soaking process, pay attention to observe the activity of the diseased fish. If any abnormality is found, release the cloth net.

2. Soak the diseased fish in a copper sulfate solution and concentrate them in a cloth net so that the drug concentration in the water reaches 2 g/m3. At the same time, add 10-20 g/m3 of chloramphenicol for immersion. It will be more effective if you use a mixture of copper sulfate and ferrous sulfate for spraying and soaking.

3. For cages with mild or no disease, use Insecticide No. 1 (copper sulfate preparation) tablets in hanging bags for prevention and control. The specific operation is to hang one tablet on each diagonal inside the cage. The depth of the medicine bag is 0.5-1 meter.

Epidemic characteristics of ciliate disease, the disease is caused by parasitic ciliates such as polychaetes, branch-shaped insects, and bell-shaped insects. It occurs throughout the year in the south, with the peak period being July to November. All aquaculture species are parasitized by ciliates. This occurs especially in river crabs and shrimps at all stages of their growth. The eggs are parasitized and cannot develop normally. When shrimp are parasitized, the young shrimp will die in large numbers and the adult shrimp will be inedible. When juvenile crabs in stages 1-5 are infected by the parasite, they will crawl onto the shore and refuse to go into the water, with a mortality rate of up to 70%-95%. Adult crabs will die when infected because they cannot shed their shells normally.

Symptoms of the disease: Ciliates can parasitize all over the body of river crabs and shrimps, and the mud and other substances attached to the ciliates feel like a slippery, oily layer to the touch. When the parasitism is serious, shrimps and crabs will be covered with ciliates, their mouthparts cannot open, and their eyes cannot retract or move, and they will eventually die of starvation or exhaustion.

For drug control, add 5-8 grams of oxytetracycline, 10 grams of fungicide powder or 10 grams of insecticide net per kilogram of feed. For external use, choose Fibroworm BiK (0.15-0.3 mg/L) and Fish BiJing (0.01-0.015 mg/L).
