Dosage

Before use, add an appropriate amount of sterile water for injection to make a suspension. For intramuscular injection, adults should receive 600,000 to 1.2 million units at a time, once every 2 to 4 weeks; children should receive 300,000 to 600,000 units at a time, once every 2 to 4 weeks.

Adverse Reactions

1. Allergic reaction: Allergic reaction caused by penicillin may occur when using this product. Among them, allergic reactions such as rash are common, while leukopenia, interstitial nephritis, asthma attacks and serum sickness reactions are rare. Severe cases such as anaphylactic shock are occasionally seen. Once anaphylactic shock occurs, emergency treatment must be given on the spot, and treatment measures such as keeping the airway open, oxygen inhalation, and the use of epinephrine, glucocorticoids, etc.

2. Double infection: Double infection with penicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, Gram-negative bacilli or Candida albicans may occur.

Adverse reactions and precautions: High allergy rate. May affect the synthesis of B vitamins in the intestine. Those with a history of penicillin allergy should not use it. Those without a history of allergy should undergo an allergy test with penicillin G potassium (sodium) before use. Those with a positive test should not use it. For long-term use, it is advisable to take oral B vitamins at the same time.

Precautions

1. Before using this product, it is necessary to inquire about the drug allergy history in detail and perform a penicillin skin test. 2. People who are allergic to one type of penicillin may be allergic to other penicillins and penicillamine. About 5% to 7% of patients with a history of penicillin allergy may have cross-allergy to cephalosporins. 3. Patients with allergic diseases such as asthma, eczema, hay fever, urticaria, etc. should use this product with caution. 4. This product must be freshly prepared. 5. During the application of penicillin, false positives may occur when measuring urine sugar using the copper sulfate method, but the glucose enzyme method is not affected.

Use in pregnant and lactating women

Animal reproduction studies have not found that penicillin causes fetal harm, but strict controlled trials have not yet been conducted in pregnant women to exclude the adverse effects of this type of drug on the fetus, so pregnant women should use this product only when it is really necessary. A small amount of this product is secreted from breast milk. Breastfeeding women should stop breastfeeding when taking the medicine.

Drug interactions

Probenecid, aspirin, indomethacin, phenylbutazone and sulfonamides reduce the renal tubular secretion of penicillin and prolong the serum half-life of this product. Penicillin can enhance the anticoagulant effect of warfarin.
