Acquired reasons:

(1) Systemic diseases: Hyperpituitarism produces excessive growth hormone. If it persists until after epiphyseal fusion, or if the disease occurs after epiphyseal fusion, it may manifest as acromegaly, mandibular protrusion, anterior teeth or full arch crossbite. Rickets is caused by vitamin D deficiency, which affects calcium and phosphorus metabolism and leads to bone metabolism disorder. It can also manifest as anterior crossbite and open bite due to mandibular developmental deformity.

(2) Respiratory diseases: Chronic tonsillitis, enlarged and swollen adenoids. In order to keep the airway open and reduce pressure and stimulation, the tongue often extends forward and drives the mandible forward, forming anterior crossbite and mandibular protrusion.

(3) Local disorders of deciduous teeth and the period of replacement teeth: Caries of deciduous teeth and the local disorders of deciduous teeth and the period of replacement teeth caused by it are an important acquired cause of the formation of anterior crossbite.
