The reason why toes suddenly feel like being pricked by needles

The reason why toes suddenly feel like being pricked by needles

The human body is a whole, so any discomfort in the body will make people unhappy, and they will also worry whether there is something wrong with the body, because many symptoms are the beginning of the disease. What I want to tell you today is that the toes suddenly hurt like needles. I believe many friends have had this feeling. It may not matter once in a while, but if it happens more often, you must pay attention to it, because it is a long-term symptom of vasculitis.

What is vasculitis?

The full name of vasculitis is "thromboangiitis obliterans". It is an allergic inflammation occurring in blood vessels, leading to segmental stenosis and occlusion of small and medium-sized arteries, loss of nutrition, ulcers and necrosis of the extremities. It is a more stubborn vascular disease, not an inflammatory manifestation of the blood vessel wall itself, and has nothing to do with bacterial infection.

How to treat vasculitis?

1. Treatment principles:

Because its etiology is unknown, the main lesions are obstruction of the distal arteries of the peripheral limbs, blood supply disorders, and poor arterial outflow. Arterial reconstruction is often impossible or has poor therapeutic effects. Therefore, various Chinese and Western medicine treatment methods should be selected according to the condition and scope of the lesion, combined with surgery for comprehensive treatment. The treatment principles mainly focus on improving and enhancing limb blood circulation, relieving and alleviating pain, saving limbs, and restoring labor.

Key points in the diagnosis of patients with vasculitis

1) It often occurs in cold regions, mostly in smoking males under 40 years old, and mainly affects the lower limbs.

2) Pain in the toes of the lower limbs, accompanied by migratory superficial phlebitis or intermittent claudication.

3) The dorsalis pedis artery pulse is weakened or disappears.

4) The toes become persistently cold, the skin becomes pale or cyanotic, and even extremity ulcers or dry gangrene may occur.

2. Treatment Plan

The preferred Chinese medicine preparation - Suppositories, has been used clinically for 20 years with definite efficacy, especially long-term efficacy, and no side effects. It was developed by Dr. Gu Shouzhong of the former Xiangfen Vasculitis Specialty Hospital in Shanxi Province. The research project is now being carried out at the Bening Vasculitis Research Institute in Xiangfen County, Shanxi Province.

1. Non-surgical treatment

⑴ General treatment: In addition to not smoking, you should also prevent cold, moisture and trauma, and avoid overheating to avoid increasing tissue hypoxia. Exercise the affected limb by performing lift-and-hang exercises, such as the Buerper exercise, in which the patient lies flat on his back and first raises the affected limb more than 45 degrees, then lets it hang by the bed for 2-3 minutes, then places it in a horizontal position for 2 minutes, and performs foot rotation, flexion and extension exercises. Repeat this activity for 20 minutes, several times a day. Or simply walk, the walking speed and distance are both based on the standard of not causing lameness.

⑵Drug treatment

a. Traditional Chinese medicine b. Vasodilators c. Antibiotics and sedatives d. Others: drugs that reduce blood viscosity, anti-platelet aggregation, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, etc.

2. Surgical treatment: The purpose is only to promote or reconstruct limb arterial blood supply to improve or eliminate the consequences caused by ischemia. Surgery cannot be relied upon as a direct or specific treatment for this disease.
