Gallstones cause pancreatitis

Gallstones cause pancreatitis

I believe everyone is familiar with pancreatitis, so what is pancreatitis caused by gallstones like? Gallstones will slowly move into the cystic duct, causing blockage of the gallbladder. The pancreas and cystic duct are connected, so bile will also enter the pancreatic duct, causing digestive system disorders. If not treated in time, it will trigger an attack of pancreatitis. So how should pancreatitis caused by gallstones be treated?

1. General treatment

Patients with less serious conditions can receive general treatment, such as fasting, nasogastric tube decompression, continuous gastrointestinal decompression, and prevention of vomiting and aspiration. Giving whole-body motility drugs can reduce abdominal distension. Replenish body fluids and prevent and treat shock. All patients should be supplemented with fluids, electrolytes, and calories intravenously to maintain circulatory stability and water and electrolyte balance. Prevent hypotension, improve microcirculation, and give symptomatic painkillers in the early stages of the disease. However, it is advisable to give antispasmodics at the same time. Morphine is contraindicated to avoid causing sphincter spasm. Trypsin inhibitors such as aprotinin and gabexate have a certain inhibitory effect on trypsin.

2. Surgical treatment

Pancreatic abscess, pancreatic pseudocyst, and pancreatic necrosis with infection are serious life-threatening complications of acute pancreatitis. If the diagnosis is uncertain; there is secondary pancreatic infection; there is concurrent biliary disease; or the clinical symptoms continue to worsen despite reasonable supportive treatment, surgical treatment should be performed. There are two main surgical treatment methods: ① Laparotomy to remove necrotic tissue, place multiple multi-porous drainage tubes for continuous irrigation after surgery, and then suture the incision. ② Laparotomy to remove necrotic tissue and partially open the wound for drainage.

3. Daily prevention

Prevention is much better than painful treatment, so daily prevention is important, and biliary diseases should be avoided or eliminated in the first place. Secondly, we must avoid excessive drinking. People who drink excessively will suffer damage to organs such as the liver and pancreas due to chronic alcohol poisoning and malnutrition, and their ability to fight infection will decrease. On this basis, acute pancreatitis may result from a single alcohol abuse episode. Avoid overeating, as it can lead to gastrointestinal dysfunction, disrupt the normal activity and emptying of the intestines, hinder the normal drainage of bile and pancreatic juice, and cause pancreatitis.
