Taking too many anti-inflammatory drugs will cause fever

When we are sick, many people will choose to take some anti-inflammatory drugs. It seems that anti-inflammatory drugs are an essential medicine in our lives and a panacea. Actually, it’s not. Many times, we actually don’t need to take anti-inflammatory drugs, but taking too much anti-inflammatory drugs can cause some problems to our bodies. For example, taking too many anti-inflammatory drugs can cause fever. So, what happens if you overdose on anti-inflammatory drugs?

What happens if you take too much anti-inflammatory medicine?

Anti-inflammatory drugs are drugs that can inhibit the production or release of inflammatory factors. By inhibiting the production of inflammatory factors, inflammation can be reduced or even eliminated, and the pain caused by inflammation can be relieved. Anti-inflammatory drugs can play an anti-inflammatory role in various inflammatory diseases. The medicines we usually take include Niuhuang Jiedu Tablets, Liushen Pills, Rhinitis Tablets, Fuyanping, Caoshanhu Lozenges, etc., which are all anti-inflammatory drugs for clearing heat and detoxifying.

What will happen if you take too much anti-inflammatory drugs? Taking too much anti-inflammatory drugs or using them for too long can lead to drug resistance and dysbiosis, resulting in a decrease in immunity. Excessive use of anti-inflammatory drugs may cause infertility. Some people who suffer from otitis media in childhood will take anti-inflammatory drugs or get intravenous drips, and use them in large quantities. As a result, they are prone to infertility when they become adults. Therefore, long-term excessive use of anti-inflammatory drugs may not cause immediate damage, but may have effects decades later.

2What are the anti-inflammatory drugs?

There are many types of drugs for treating bacterial infections, which can be divided into the following categories according to their chemical structures: penicillins, cephalosporins, aminoglycosides, macrolides, tetracyclines, quinolones, sulfonamides and others. The main varieties are introduced as follows:

.Penicillins

Commonly used ones include penicillin G, penicillin V, methicillin (New Penicillin I), ampicillin (ampicillin), amoxicillin (hydroxyampicillin), ticarcillin (carboxytic thiophene penicillin), piperacillin (oxypiperacillin), etc. Suitable for respiratory tract, skin and soft tissue, urinary and reproductive tract infections, etc. The main advantages of penicillins are their strong bactericidal effect, few toxic side effects, they are relatively safe for use by pregnant women and children, and they do not affect liver function. However, it should be noted that its main adverse reactions are allergic reactions, including allergic dermatitis. Serum sickness, rash, contact dermatitis, etc. Use with caution in patients with severe renal impairment.

Cephalosporins

Can be divided into four generations. The first-generation cephalosporins for injection include cefazolin (Xianfeng No. 5), cefadroxil (Xianfeng No. 6), etc., and the oral ones include cephalexin (Xianfeng No. 4), cefadroxil (Xianfeng No. 6), cefadroxil, etc. Suitable for respiratory tract, skin and soft tissue, urinary and reproductive tract infections, etc.

The second-generation cephalosporins have a broader antibacterial spectrum, stronger antibacterial effect and lower renal toxicity than the first-generation ones. The injectable ones include cefuroxime (cefuroxime), cefamandole, cefoxitin, cefmetazole, etc., and the oral ones include cefuroxime axetil, cefaclor, etc.

The third-generation cephalosporins have the characteristics of broad antibacterial spectrum, strong antibacterial activity, wide distribution in the body and low toxicity to the human body. The injectable ones include cefotaxime, ceftazidime, ceftriaxone, cefoperazone, ceftizoxime, cefodizime, etc., and the oral ones include cefixime. Cefpodoxime axetil, cefdrin pivoxil, ceftriaxone, etc. It can be used for respiratory tract, skin and soft tissue, urogenital system, gastrointestinal tract infections and sepsis, etc.

The fourth-generation cephalosporin is superior to the previous three generations due to its special mode of action and broad antibacterial spectrum. Because the possibility of cross-allergy with penicillin is very small, it can be used for patients who are allergic to penicillin. Currently on the market are cefepime and ceftriaxone for injection.

3 Side effects of anti-inflammatory drugs

A small number of patients may experience temporary side effects such as headache, nausea, vomiting, constipation or diarrhoea after taking antibiotics. If the condition persists or becomes severe, the patient should stop taking the medication and consult a doctor as soon as possible.

Some patients may have allergic reactions to antibiotics. Therefore, if symptoms such as rashes, itching or asthma occur after taking the medicine, they should stop taking the medicine immediately and bring the relevant medicine to see a doctor for treatment. If the patient has ever had an allergic reaction to a certain antibiotic or other medicine, he or she should inform the doctor in advance.

Some antibiotics may affect the fetus or infant, so women who are planning to become pregnant, are pregnant or breastfeeding should consult a doctor before taking them.

4 How many days can you take anti-inflammatory drugs?

Chinese patent medicine anti-inflammatory drugs can be taken for 10 days, and should not exceed half a month at most. Western medicine anti-inflammatory drugs should be taken for about 7 days. No matter which anti-inflammatory drug it is, it must be taken under the guidance of a doctor and cannot be taken on your own.

Anti-inflammatory drugs are the "common name", which means antipyretic, analgesic and anti-inflammatory drugs in medicine. It is a class of drugs with antipyretic and analgesic effects, and most of them also have anti-inflammatory and anti-rheumatic effects. Commonly used ones include aspirin, paracetamol, ibuprofen, etc. Except for paracetamol, most other types have anti-inflammatory effects. They are symptomatic treatments that directly target inflammation.

Anti-inflammatory drugs mainly include two categories: steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

Steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are what we usually call "hormones" (the actual professional term should be "glucocorticoids"). This type of drug achieves the purpose of treating inflammation by suppressing the immune response. It is especially important to note that this type of drug has relatively large side effects and patients cannot take it on their own. It must be taken under the guidance of a doctor.

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs mainly include some antipyretic and analgesic drugs. Commonly used non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs include aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, diclofenac, etc. These drugs are mainly used to treat non-infectious inflammations such as physical injuries (such as sprains, bruises, etc.) and arthritis. Its treatment is mainly through inhibiting the synthesis of inflammatory mediators, which can play the role of antipyretic, analgesic and anti-inflammatory.
