My esophagus hurts when I swallow

The esophagus is a digestive organ connected to the throat, so the esophagus also plays a certain swallowing function. When there is a problem with the esophagus, the patient will feel pain in the esophagus when swallowing. Since more serious esophageal diseases can seriously endanger the patient's health, for example, the mortality rate of esophageal cancer is very high, so everyone has to pay attention to the problem of esophageal pain. What are the causes of esophageal pain when swallowing?

Pain in the esophagus when eating

1. Early days

The early symptoms of esophageal cancer are often not obvious. Of course, this is not absolute. When swallowing rough and hard food, you may experience a certain degree of discomfort. Common symptoms include a choking feeling when swallowing food, burning, tingling, or pulling and friction pain behind the sternum, etc. The early symptoms of esophageal cancer are usually mild or severe, progress slowly, and are easily ignored by patients.

2. Middle and late stages

The symptoms of mid-to-late stage esophageal cancer will gradually become obvious. A relatively typical symptom is progressive difficulty in swallowing. First, it is difficult to swallow dry food, then semi-liquid food, and finally water and saliva cannot be swallowed. Esophageal cancer patients at this stage should be sufficiently vigilant. It should be noted that the cure rate of middle and late stage esophageal cancer is quite low. In addition, esophageal cancer patients at this stage will also experience metastasis.

3. Late symptoms

The symptoms of advanced esophageal cancer can be very obvious. For a disease like esophageal cancer, progressive dysphagia is the main symptom for most patients when they seek medical treatment, but it should be noted that this is a relatively late manifestation of esophageal cancer. This is mainly because the esophageal wall is elastic and has the ability to expand. Difficulty in swallowing only occurs when about 2/3 of the circumference of the esophagus is infiltrated by cancer.
