What are the effects of Pianxu

When 20 grams/kg of its decoction was given to rats loaded with salt water, the urine volume, sodium and potassium excretion increased, especially potassium excretion. Its ash content also had the same effect. Therefore, it is believed that its diuretic effect is mainly due to potassium salt. Some people also believe that it is due to the flavonoids contained in it.

②Hypertensive effect

③Effects on uterus and hemostasis

The water and alcohol extracts of Psoralea coagulata can accelerate blood coagulation, increase uterine tension, and can be used as a hemostatic agent for uterine bleeding after miscarriage and delivery.

④ Antibacterial effect

The 1:10 extract of Scutellaria baicalensis has an inhibitory effect on certain fungi in test tubes, but a weaker inhibitory effect on bacteria.

⑤Other functions

Psoralea corylifolia has a choleretic effect on rats and dogs. Intravenous injection of half the effective dose (2.57-4.26 mg/kg) to dogs can increase the excretion of bile salts.

⑥ Toxicity: As a forage grass, Smilax glabra is poisonous and can cause dermatitis and gastrointestinal disorders in horses and sheep. Pigeons are most sensitive to the toxic effects of this plant. The minimum lethal dose for cats and rabbits is 20 ml/kg for oral administration of infusion (10-20%) or decoction (1:40), and 2 ml/kg for intravenous injection of water extract (1:50).
