What are the dangers of capillary nevus

What are the dangers of capillary nevus

Some people are born with capillary nevus on their head and face. It should be noted that it is a benign tumor and is relatively common. Although this disease does not threaten a person's life immediately in most cases, it can still pose a health risk if ignored. Because this type of vascular nevus may develop lesions as it grows larger with age, it is important to closely monitor its progress. So, what harm do capillary nevi do to the human body?

1. Concept

Capillary nevus and port-wine stains are also known as port-wine stains or port-wine stains, and often appear at birth or shortly after birth.

2. Causes

Vascular nevus is the most common benign tumor, which is formed by the proliferation of vascular network. There are two types of vascular nevi: hemangiomas and vascular malformations. Vascular malformations are vascular malformations that may persist throughout life. Hemangioma is caused by the proliferation of vascular endothelial cells.

Symptoms

1. The most significant feature of this type of vascular disease is that the patient is discovered at birth or shortly after birth. Therefore, it is often called a "birthmark". The most common of these is the port-wine stain or nevus flammeus, and there is another type of nodular capillary malformation, which appears as a bayberry-shaped hemangioma.

2. It is common on the face, neck and scalp. It is mostly unilateral, irregular in shape, with clear boundaries and not protruding above the skin surface. Capillary dilation can be seen. It partially or completely fades when pressed and has a smooth surface. With age, the color deepens to red and then purple. In 65% of patients, the lesions will gradually expand, thicken and form nodules before the age of 40, and are prone to bleeding after trauma.

3. Capillary nevus appears as a red spot on the skin that is present at birth. The color of the lesions can be pink, bright red, purple (dark red) and other shades of red, and they do not protrude above the surface of the skin. In most clinical cases, there is no discoloration or increase in skin temperature during pressure examination, but there are a few exceptions. As the patient ages, the geometry of the lesions usually does not change, and they increase in proportion to the location.

4. The color of most lesions deepens year by year, and there is no clinical phenomenon of natural regression. Most patients have no complaints of discomfort, and very few have abnormal sweating or abnormal sensation. Generally there is no obvious functional impairment, but a few people may have corresponding limb and brain symptoms due to various syndromes.

IV. Hazards

1. Tumors arising from vascular tissue are called hemangiomas, 80% of which are congenital. Hemangiomas are benign, slow-growing, and rarely become malignant.

2. If it continues to grow, it may cause local skin damage.

3. Vascular nevus generally does not threaten the patient's life, but there are many clinical classifications and the harm they cause is also different. Therefore, we must not take this disease lightly and miss the best time for treatment.

5. Treatment

1. Generally there is no obvious harm, so don't worry. Just observe carefully. If it grows significantly, you can consider laser mole removal. It affects the appearance and there is a risk of heavy bleeding if it is damaged, so close attention should be paid. If the vascular nevus is small, grows slowly, and is not in an exposed area, it may disappear on its own after it stops growing.

2. Try to diversify your food. Eat more high-protein, multi-vitamin, low-animal fat, easily digestible food and fresh fruits and vegetables. Do not eat stale, spoiled or irritating food. Eat less smoked, grilled, pickled, fried, and overly salty food. Combine coarse and fine grains in staple foods to ensure nutritional balance.
