What does tuberculosis mean

Tuberculosis is also known as pulmonary tuberculosis in medicine. It is a disease caused by bacterial infection and is highly contagious. If the patient is not treated in time, many organs in the body will be damaged. This disease will also cause fever in the patient, but it is generally a low-grade fever. At the same time, the patient will also cough and feel weak. If you don’t know enough about this disease, you can follow me to see what tuberculosis means?

First, what does tuberculosis mean?

Pulmonary tuberculosis is also known as pulmonary tuberculosis. Tuberculosis is a chronic infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis that can affect multiple organs throughout the body, but pulmonary tuberculosis is the most common. The pathological characteristics of pulmonary tuberculosis are tuberculous nodules and caseous necrosis, which are prone to form cavities. Clinically, the disease is mostly chronic, but in a few cases it may develop acutely. There are often systemic symptoms such as low-grade fever and fatigue, and respiratory manifestations such as cough and hemoptysis.

Second, what causes tuberculosis?

1. Harsh social environment factors: such as poverty, war, famine, natural disasters, etc.

2. Genetic factors: Studies have shown that the consistency rate of tuberculosis in identical twins is much higher than that in fraternal twins, proving that genetic factors have a definite impact on tuberculosis patients.

3. Gender: The incidence rate of females is higher than that of males before the age of 20, and then higher than that of males, indicating that both age and gender have a definite impact on the incidence and prevalence of tuberculosis.

4. Occupation: Certain occupations are closely related to tuberculosis. For example, silicosis is common in the dust industry and people with silicosis are prone to tuberculosis. The incidence rate of those who have been engaged in nursing work for a long time and have negative testosterone is 10 times higher than that of those who have positive testosterone.

5. Drugs and tuberculosis: Corticosteroids and immunosuppressants often cause latent tuberculosis, such as those who use hormones for a long time for asthma, those who use hormones and immunosuppressants for a long time for organ transplantation, and those who undergo surgery and chemotherapy for malignant tumors.

6. Floating population, refugees, and immigrants: They are prone to infection and disease due to unstable lifestyles, poor nutrition, fatigue, and crowded living conditions.

Tuberculosis is an infectious disease, but the incubation period varies from person to person. After infection with tuberculosis bacteria, tuberculosis symptoms usually appear about 3 months later. Early stage or mild tuberculosis may be asymptomatic or may be so mild that it may be ignored.
