Are there any side effects of spinal anesthesia?

It is very common to use anesthesia during surgery. Anesthesia can help relieve pain and temporarily paralyze the body so that you don't feel pain. However, there are some disadvantages to using anesthesia in some parts of the body. Of course, under normal circumstances, there will be no problem with anesthesia unless there are some accidents. Many people may wonder, are there any sequelae of spinal anesthesia? In fact, as long as the operation is carried out normally and there are no accidents, there are almost no sequelae.

1. Local swelling

Anesthetics have certain side effects on human nerves (causing local swelling, making wounds difficult to heal, etc.), but reasonable use will not affect health!

2. Impact on the nervous system

In the past, anesthetics had strong toxic side effects, especially when used in large doses, which would have a great impact on the human nervous system. However, due to the continuous progress of modern medicine and pharmacology, the side effects of anesthetics have been greatly reduced.

3. Cause complications

General anesthesia refers to a state of reversible loss of consciousness and absence of pain caused by inhalation of anesthetic drugs through the respiratory tract or intravenous injection. General anesthesia for cervical spondylosis is generally achieved through rapid intravenous induction of sodium thiopental plus muscle relaxants, endotracheal intubation, maintenance with inhaled anesthetics and muscle relaxants, or maintenance with intravenous drip of procaine. The intraoperative anesthetic effect is definite, the airway is unobstructed, artificial respiration is used to maintain ventilation, and the postoperative recovery process is smooth and quiet, making anesthesia safe and reliable. With the continuous progress of modern anesthesiology and the continuous updating of monitoring equipment, the application of general anesthesia is becoming more and more extensive and safer. Although anesthesia is effective, patients are in an unconscious state and find it difficult to cooperate closely with the operator, and nerve and spinal cord injuries have been reported from time to time. The complications of general anesthesia mainly occur in the respiratory system, circulatory system and central nervous system, such as vomiting, suffocation, airway obstruction, insufficient ventilation, pneumonia and atelectasis, hypotension, arrhythmia, delayed awakening, etc. However, with the continuous advancement of modern anesthesia technology, the above complications have become less and less common, and the safety of general anesthesia has become increasingly greater.
