Does the thorny horn bud have any effect in treating nosebleeds?

Many people are unfamiliar with the name of prickly horn bud, but most of them recognize this plant. It can be seen everywhere in the fields in spring. It gets this name because its neck and leaves are covered with thorns. Its scientific name is thistle. Farmers working in the fields often have their hands cut by branches or sharp objects, and the bleeding does not stop. They will pick a few leaves of thistle, rub them to extract the juice, and cover the wound, which will quickly stop the bleeding, relieve pain and swelling. What are the effects of prickly horn bud? Can it cure nosebleeds?

Thistle can be used as medicine, but with different effects. The doctor said: Great thistle can cure carbuncles, while small thistle can break up blood. The seedlings are collected in April and the roots are collected in September. Page 113 of Compendium of Materia Medica states: If a knife wound does not stop bleeding, mash some small thistle seedlings and apply them to the wound to stop the bleeding. When I was a child, I went to the fields to cut grass and saw people who had cut their fingers or nosebleeds rubbing their fingers with small thistle seedlings to stop the bleeding. The effect was very good. In the past, when people had no vegetables to eat in the spring, they would often pick some small prickly ash shoots, rub them with salt and eat them with rice. Before the "Cultural Revolution", people ate "Recalling the bitter past and thinking of the sweet future" and pulled out prickly ash buds to fill the pot. Usually, some people grind it raw and drink the juice to relieve restlessness and heat.

Thistle is distributed in most parts of China, and is also found in Central and Eastern Europe, eastern Russia, Japan, North Korea and other regions. It grows in areas with an altitude of 140 to 2,650 meters, and generally grows wild in wastelands, grasslands, hillside forests, roadsides, bushes, fields, forest edges and streams. It is cultivated artificially for medicinal purposes.
