What is barium meal fluoroscopy

What is barium meal fluoroscopy

Many people usually have irregular diets due to work. If this continues for a long time, they are likely to suffer from digestive system diseases. Once a digestive system disease is diagnosed, it is very harmful to human health and requires active treatment, otherwise it will seriously affect daily life. When treating digestive system diseases, barium meal fluoroscopy is required. What exactly is barium meal fluoroscopy?

What is a barium meal fluoroscopy?

Barium meal fluoroscopy is mainly used to take gastroscopy photos. Before undergoing a gastroscopy, the patient eats a barium meal, which does not dissolve in gastric acid containing hydrochloric acid, and can thus successfully stick to the stomach wall like ingested food. Areas of the stomach wall with surface loss such as ulcers cannot be adhered to. When taking an X-ray of the stomach, since X-rays cannot penetrate solid barium sulfate, the barium meal will leave a shadow on the photo, and the part without a shadow is the lesion. This examination is mainly to rule out esophagitis, gastritis, gastric ulcer and digestive tract diseases.

What is gastritis? What are the symptoms?

Gastritis is an acute or chronic inflammation of the gastric mucosa caused by a variety of causes. It can be divided into two categories according to the course of the disease: acute gastritis and chronic gastritis. Acute gastritis often has a clear cause, while the cause and pathogenesis of chronic gastritis are still unclear. The diagnosis of gastritis mainly depends on gastroscopy and gastric mucosal biopsy.

Acute gastritis is divided into acute simple gastritis and acute erosive gastritis. The former is mainly manifested by upper abdominal discomfort, pain, anorexia, nausea, vomiting, etc.; the latter is mainly manifested by upper gastrointestinal bleeding, hematemesis and black stools, etc.

Chronic gastritis can be divided into chronic superficial gastritis, chronic atrophic gastritis and hypertrophic gastritis. Chronic gastritis has a long course and most patients have no obvious symptoms and signs. The most common symptoms are indigestion symptoms such as fullness after meals, heartburn, belching, irregular abdominal pain, etc.

The care of gastritis mainly starts from the following three aspects:

(1) Healthy diet:

Chew slowly;

Eat small and frequent meals, 4-5 meals a day;

Pay attention to food hygiene and keep oral hygiene;

Eat a fine diet and avoid rough, hard, high-fiber, and indigestible foods;

Eat a light diet, avoid foods that are too sour, too spicy, too strongly flavored, too salty, and too hot, and drink less alcohol and strong tea;

(2) A good attitude:

Create a quiet and comfortable eating environment;

Avoid mental stress and depression;

Avoid excessive worrying and fully understand your condition, possible symptoms and coping methods;

Find a suitable channel for catharsis, such as meditation, exercise, listening to music, etc.

Family members should give patients enough tolerance and patience, and take the initiative to care for them.

(3) Take medication as directed by your doctor:

Make a reminder to take medicine on time;

You can use painkillers as prescribed by your doctor, but do not take them for a long time to avoid drug dependence;

When you have upper abdominal pain, you can apply heat and massage;

You can use methods such as distraction and deep breathing to relieve pain.
