What is the process of tooth extraction?

Tooth extraction is a common treatment method in daily life. For example, if a tooth is damaged or has caries, etc., tooth extraction may be required. Although tooth extraction seems to be relatively simple, there are actually many complications involved. For example, teeth cannot be extracted when there is gingivitis because it is very harmful. In addition, before tooth extraction, you must choose a regular medical institution for treatment, especially paying attention to the strict disinfection of medical equipment to avoid cross-infection diseases. After tooth extraction, you should pay attention to nursing care, keep your mouth clean, and prevent infection.

Here is an introduction to the tooth extraction process:

The first step is to separate the gums: After oral disinfection and anesthesia, insert the gum separator into the gingival sulcus to separate the gum tissue around the tooth neck.

The second step is to loosen the tooth: insert the dental extraction elevator between the tooth root and the alveolar bone, then use your left hand to protect the adjacent teeth, and use your right hand to use the alveolar bone as a fulcrum to rotate the dental extraction elevator, gradually loosening the tooth from mesial to distal.

The third step is to place the beak of the forceps accurately on the labial-lingual side or buccal-lingual side of the affected tooth, and slowly shake the beak of the forceps in the direction of the long axis of the tooth. As the tooth becomes more loose, pull it out with force. Single-rooted teeth with conical roots can be pulled out with a little rotational force.

The fourth step is to treat the tooth extraction wound again and thoroughly remove the remaining small bone fragments, granulation tissue, etc. If the alveolar septum, bone ridge or alveolar bone wall is too high, it should be trimmed and leveled with bone rongeurs.

Step 5. Finally, cover the wound with a sterilized gauze or cotton roll and ask the patient to chew the gauze gently for half an hour to an hour until the bleeding stops, then spit it out.

Precautions after tooth extraction

1. First of all, the most important thing is that after tooth extraction, you should stay calm and listen carefully to the doctor's instructions. This is very important.

2. It is best not to eat within 2 hours. Eat soft food, liquid or semi-liquid food on the same day. It is better to eat warm or cold food. Do not eat hard or overheated food. You can chew on the other side.

3. Do not rinse your mouth or spit too much on the day to prevent bleeding or infection. Do not repeatedly suck and spit out blood clots due to the bloody taste in your mouth, which will prevent the wound from healing.

4. Don’t brush your teeth on that day. Do not suck on the wound. No musical instrument.

5. It is normal to have blood in saliva within 1 week after tooth extraction. If the bleeding does not stop, go to the hospital for examination.

6. Try to exercise and talk less on the day of tooth extraction. Avoid smoking, drinking and spicy food.

7. If there are stitches in the mouth during tooth extraction, the stitches can usually be removed after 4 to 5 days.

8. Pay attention to the condition of the wound after tooth extraction. If there is a lot of bleeding, seek medical attention in time. The gauze or cotton ball on the wound after tooth extraction needs to be bitten for about half an hour before spitting it out. Do not bite it too tightly or for too long. A small amount of blood in your saliva is normal for 24 hours.
