Neck pain when the head is tilted back is a problem that many people will encounter. Generally, it may be caused by cervical spondylosis or long-term incorrect sitting posture. A pillow that is too high when sleeping can also easily cause neck pain. There is a certain difference between pathological neck pain and simple pain. Pathological neck pain will cause severe muscle or cervical nerve pain, and will also damage the soft tissue of the neck. You can do more appropriate exercises and keep your neck active. You should also pay more attention to keeping the neck warm to prevent cold wind from entering the bones, which can easily cause pain. Causes There are many reasons for neck pain, so the principles of various neck pains are also different. The common reasons are as follows: Cervical Spondylosis Due to long periods of working with the head down, using a computer, sleeping with a high pillow, driving for too long, etc., the cervical spine undergoes degenerative changes. When the cervical spine degenerates to a certain extent, it will cause cervical bone hyperplasia and cervical disc herniation. Bone hyperplasia and herniated disc compress the cervical nerves, muscles, ligaments, etc. and cause neck pain. Neck muscle strain Neck muscle strain, also known as cervical fibromyositis, is caused by repeated acute and chronic injuries to the soft tissue of the neck, resulting in traumatic aseptic inflammation and pain in the neck muscles, which stimulates the muscles to produce a persistent state of contraction, muscle tension, and long-term muscle spasm, causing local soft tissue vascular spasm, insufficient blood supply to the muscles and fascia, nutritional disorders, and aggravated aseptic inflammation of the tissues, thus forming a vicious circle and exacerbating the pain. Neck trauma There are many causes of cervical spine trauma, such as car accidents, falls, collisions, etc., which damage the neck muscles and bones and cause neck pain. stiff neck This is caused by dislocation of the facet joints of the cervical vertebra. When the neck is sprained, or the sleeping posture is incorrect, or the neck is suddenly invaded by wind, cold and dampness, the cervical vertebrae joints may become dislocated and cause neck pain. This pain usually comes on suddenly and gets worse when the neck is turned. Self-exercise therapy 1. Neck exercise: Tilt your head forward ten times, tilt it back ten times, tilt it to the left ten times, and tilt it to the right ten times. Then slowly shake your head, turning left ten times and right ten times. 2. Shake your upper limbs: shake your left arm twenty times, then shake your right arm twenty times. 3. Practice your fingers by grabbing the air; stretch your arms out and flex and extend the five fingers of both hands. You can do this 50 times. 4. Local massage: You can find tender points, nodules or muscle tension near the neck, Dazhui point and Fengchi point, and rub, press, push and pinch these reaction points. 5. Remote acupoint pressing: look for tender points on the back of the hand, the back of the foot, the anterior and lateral sides of the buttocks, and the outer sides of the calves. Apply acupoint massage on this reaction point. 6. Rub your palms and waist: Put your palms together and rub them to warm them up. Then rub your hands on your waist, moving up and down, for 50 times. 7. Pinch the ankle tendons: Use your hands alternately to pinch the large tendons behind the ankle. 8.
