What are the treatments for sphenoid sinusitis

When it comes to the word sphenoid sinusitis, people may not know what disease it is. In fact, sphenoid sinusitis is a type of rhinitis. Because the symptoms after suffering from this disease are not particularly obvious, it was once believed that sphenoid sinusitis was a relatively rare disease. Current medical discoveries show that sphenoid sinusitis is more likely to occur in adolescents and has certain harmfulness. Now let’s talk about the treatments for sphenoid sinusitis.

Method 1: Non-surgical treatment:

That is, drug treatment, which is a treatment method that many patients like and are willing to accept. Experts point out that drug treatment of sphenoid sinusitis is not very effective and has little effect on severe patients.

2. Surgical treatment:

After conservative treatment fails, some patients will choose surgical treatment. Traditional surgical treatment methods mainly include the following

1. Sphenoid sinus irrigation method:

It is suitable for patients with chronic sphenoid sinusitis who have not responded well to conservative treatment and whose examination reveals blockage in the sphenoid sinus opening, poor drainage, and significant symptoms.

2. Sphenoid sinus opening enlargement:

It is suitable for those who have difficulty flushing the sphenoid sinus using the above method.

3. Sphenoid sinus anterior wall chiseling:

This surgery is suitable for chronic sphenoid sinusitis when the above treatments are ineffective or when it is complicated by retrobulbar optic neuritis and intracranial infection.

3. Massage Therapy

1. Knead the nose. Use your fingers to knead the nose on both sides from top to bottom for 5 minutes. Then gently press Yingxiang (in the nasolabial groove, at the midpoint of the outer edge of the nose) and Shangyingxiang (at the end of the upper end of the nasolabial groove) for 1 minute each. Push the Yingxiang point 36 to 100 times with your fingers every day

2. Push and press the acupoints: Push Yintang (between the eyebrows) with your thumbs alternately 50 times, use the thenar of the hand to push from the forehead to the temples on both sides (the midpoint of the line connecting the outer corner of the eye and the tip of the eyebrow) for 1 minute, press and rub Zhongfu (6 inches away from the midline of the chest, at the level of the first intercostal space), Chize (on the transverse line of the elbow, on the radial side of the biceps tendon), Hegu (between the first and second metacarpal bones, at the midpoint of the second metacarpal bone) of the hand Taiyin lung meridian for 1 minute each, and finally press and rub Fengchi (in the depression at the intersection of the sternocleidomastoid muscle and trapezius muscle at the back of the neck) for 1 minute.

3. Lift the shoulders and neck, and use your palms to pinch the Du channel acupoints in the middle of the back of the neck, as well as the acupoints on both sides of the midline of the back, from top to bottom, and repeat 4-6 times. Then lift from the neck to the shoulders on both sides. Rub the Jian Jing point (cross your hands on your shoulders, just below the tip of your middle finger) for 3 minutes, and press and rub the Fei Shu point (1.5 inches lateral to the spinous process of the 3rd thoracic vertebra) for 1 minute.

The above massage techniques should be performed once a day, and 10 times constitute a course of treatment.
