Prostate tumors belong to urology, and most of them are malignant tumors. The main incidence group is elderly men, while the incidence rate in young people is not high. Prostate tumors are not contagious, and there are no symptoms in the early stages, so most people have become malignant by the time they discover it. The disease develops very quickly, and the treatment results are not ideal. Causes Like many other tumors, the direct cause of prostate cancer is still unknown. But according to existing literature, one of the most important factors is genetics. If there is a prostate cancer patient in the family, the possibility of developing prostate cancer is several times higher than other healthy people. Currently, many studies on the molecular etiology of prostate cancer are underway, which will provide genetic evidence to explain the occurrence of prostate cancer. It cannot be ignored that exogenous factors also play a very important role in the development of prostate cancer. For example, a diet high in animal fat, lack of exercise, and excessive intake of cured meat products. The incidence of prostate cancer in my country has been increasing year by year in recent years, and one of the reasons is that it is related to a diet high in animal fat. Getting more sunlight can prevent prostate cancer because sunlight increases levels of vitamin D, which may be a protective factor for prostate cancer. In Asia, where prostate cancer is less prevalent, green tea consumption is relatively high, and green tea may be a preventive factor for prostate cancer. Pathogenesis Significant progress has been made recently in understanding the molecular mechanisms by which normal prostate epithelial cells transform into metastatic, androgen-independent cancer cells. Cellular dynamics, germline mutations, DNA methylation, tumor suppressor gene inactivation and oncogene activation, androgen receptor mutations, growth factors, and epithelial-stromal interactions all play an important role in the development and progression of prostate cancer. Disease care Treatment of prostate cancer must be individualized, and treatment approaches must be tailored to the patient's life expectancy, social relationships, family, and economic situation. Currently, only surgery and radiotherapy have the potential to cure prostate cancer, and they are only suitable for a limited number of patients. Many treatments are merely palliative and can only relieve symptoms. However, due to the long natural course of prostate cancer patients, relatively slow tumor growth, and short life expectancy of the elderly, disease remission means cure for many patients. 1) Because most patients with prostate tumors are elderly and often suffer from hypertension and cardiovascular diseases, it is important to pay attention to changes in the patient's blood pressure and pulse and follow up in a timely manner. 2) Strictly grasp the best time to remove the catheter; in China, the catheter should be removed about 3 weeks after surgery, but there are great differences among hospitals and doctors, so you should follow the doctor's advice. 3) Strengthen post-catheter removal care: Urinary incontinence may occur after surgery, and attention should be paid to pelvic floor exercises. Artificial sphincter therapy should be used when necessary. |
