What causes gout? Let’s take a look

Gout is a common and frequent disease that causes great pain to patients, so it is very important to find out its cause. Gout is mostly caused by alcohol intake, low intake of antioxidant foods, intake of bad proteins and amino acids, damaged liver function, heredity, and high mental stress, so people should pay more attention to it in their daily lives.

1. Causes of gout

1. Alcohol intake

Alcohol is the main cause of acute gout attacks. Drinking alcohol can cause an increase in uric acid and lead to the accumulation of lactic acid in the body, thereby inhibiting the excretion of uric acid.

Especially beer, which produces a large amount of purine during the fermentation process and increases blood uric acid. According to tests, if a normal person drinks 640 ml of beer, his blood uric acid level will double.

2. Low intake of antioxidant foods

Rarely consume antioxidant foods or nutrients, such as vitamins (folic acid, niacin, vitamin B6, B12, C, E, etc.) or minerals (iron, zinc, selenium, etc.).

The DNA of cells is damaged by oxidation, and the main components of the damaged DNA, adenine and guanine, are released. If they are difficult to process or excrete, gout may be caused.

3. Intake of bad proteins and amino acids

Eating poor protein or unbalanced amino acids, without proper protein synthesis, and the required vitamins, such as folic acid, vitamin B6, B12, etc., will make it difficult to synthesize DNA, resulting in excess to be processed and excreted.

Because folic acid is necessary for the synthesis of purine, vitamin B12 is necessary for the synthesis of DNA, and vitamin B6 is a substance involved in the metabolism of amino acids.

4. Impaired liver function

When there is a problem with liver function, the cortisol originally secreted in the renal cortex is transferred to the liver and converted in the liver.

If a person has a poor liver, this function cannot be performed and purine conversion may become difficult, leading to gout.

5. Genetics

Genetics is also an important cause of gout.

Most studies believe that patients with this disease have a family history, and the younger the age of onset, the higher the proportion of family history.

6. Mental tension and high pressure

Long-term exposure to work stress will cause a large number of cell death. The genetic material DNA and RNA of the dead cells will release purine. If the biochemical processing of purine is improper (lack of vitamins and supplements), gout will result.

2. Good living habits can prevent and treat gout:

Good habit 1: Limit alcohol and beverages

Drinking alcohol can easily cause lactic acid to accumulate in the body. Lactic acid has a competitive inhibitory effect on uric acid excretion, so drinking a lot of alcohol can significantly increase serum uric acid levels and induce gout attacks.

Chronic drinking of small amounts of alcohol will stimulate increased purine synthesis and increase serum and urine uric acid levels.

Good habit 2: Limit the intake of purine foods

This can reduce exogenous nuclear protein and lower serum uric acid levels, which is of great significance for preventing or alleviating acute attacks of gout, reducing the deposition of urate in the body, and preventing the formation of uric acid stones.

Foods such as barbecue, seafood, broth, animal offal and soy products are high in purine and should be avoided.

Good habit three: Encourage the selection of alkaline foods

Increasing the intake of alkaline foods can reduce the concentration of serum uric acid, making the urine alkaline, thereby increasing the solubility of uric acid in urine and promoting the excretion of uric acid.

Alkaline foods mainly include carrots, cabbage, cucumbers, cabbage, lettuce, taro, spinach, etc.

Good habit 4: stick to aerobic exercise

Go to bed early and get up early, exercise moderately (too much is as bad as too little), avoid joint pain, and maintain a normal weight.
