What is the normal value of blood hcg?

What is the normal value of blood hcg?

HCG is also called human chorionic gonadotropin. As an obstetrician and gynecologist, we are more familiar with this sex hormone indicator. This sex hormone indicator is mainly composed of dimeric glycoproteins. When this indicator is abnormal, it is very unfavorable for pregnancy conditioning and even has a very adverse effect on the healthy development of the fetus. Therefore, understanding the normal value of hcg will help better prevent it.

Complete hCG is produced entirely by the syncytiotrophoblast of the placental chorion. Its main function is to stimulate the corpus luteum, which is beneficial to the continuous secretion of estrogen and progesterone, so as to promote the formation of uterine decidua and make the placenta grow and mature. It is now believed that hCG is produced by trophoblast transitional cells and syncytial cells. It increases rapidly during the first 8 weeks of pregnancy to maintain the pregnancy. After about 8 weeks of pregnancy, hCG gradually decreases until it reaches relative stability around 20 weeks.

Normal blood hCG value

According to the American Pregnancy Association, hCG numbers are used for reference only and are:

3.5 weeks after menopause - 50 mIU/ml

4 weeks after menopause: 5 - 426 mIU/ml

5 weeks postmenopause: 18 - 7,340 mIU/ml

6 weeks postmenopause: 1,080 - 56,500 mIU/ml

7-8 weeks postmenopause: 7,650 - 229,000 mIU/ml

9-12 weeks after menstruation: 25,700 - 288,000 mIU/ml

13-16 weeks postmenopause: 13,300 - 254,000 mIU/ml
