How to treat a ganglion cyst on the wrist?

The treatment of wrist sheath cysts should of course be carried out actively to reduce the damage as much as possible, such as surgical treatment. Surgical treatment is more thorough and can reduce the possibility of recurrence after surgery. Of course, attention should be paid to care in daily life.

1. Ganglion cysts can sometimes disappear on their own, but it takes a long time and is very painful.

2. Superficial cysts can be crushed, broken, squeezed with external force or the cyst wall can be punctured with a needle and wait for it to be absorbed on its own. It can be cured, but it is prone to recurrence. After being ruptured by external force, the wrist will feel very uncomfortable and swollen. If the fluid is not absorbed, the cyst will slowly reform.

3. Puncture with a thick needle under local anesthesia, draw out as much colloidal liquid as possible, inject, and apply pressure bandage once a week. Repeat 2-3 times to heal, but relapse is common.

4. Surgical treatment. The surgery must be done carefully to completely remove the entire cyst wall along with the surrounding normal tendon sheath, aponeurosis and other tissues. Recurrence is rare after surgery. If the tumor recurs, it can still be removed surgically again. However, it is easy to relapse and the treatment cost is high.

5. Wrist ganglion cyst is a benign tumor that often occurs on the dorsal side of the wrist, palm side or dorsum of the foot. Therefore, if a painless hemispherical lump appears on the wrist or dorsum of the foot, this disease should be considered and it needs to be differentiated from epidermoid cyst, sebaceous adenoma or lipoma to avoid misdiagnosis.

6. This disease generally has little effect on the human body and in very rare cases it may disappear on its own. Although there are many methods to treat this disease, most cases still have the possibility of recurrence. If the cyst is small, asymptomatic, and does not affect the appearance, it can be left untreated and the patient can wait and see. If the cyst is large and symptomatic, non-surgical treatment may be appropriate. Those who relapse can be treated again.

7. Patients with wrist ganglion cysts should pay more attention to protecting and observing the affected area and eat less spicy food. When using the computer for a long time, you should take a 5 to 10 minute break every hour. During the break, you can do indoor exercises and move your joints. This will relieve the symptoms of wrist ganglion cysts or prevent wrist ganglion cysts.
