Is there any cure for brainstem hemorrhage

The human brain is one of the most important components of the human body, because people's ability to think and act depends on the brain. However, when the brain's workload is too high, it can cause brain disease problems. This will definitely affect the health of other parts of the human body, and in severe cases, death may occur. Therefore, we should pay attention to the treatment of brain diseases. Is there any cure for brainstem hemorrhage?

The mortality rate of brainstem hemorrhage below 15ml is about 17.1%. The mortality rate of brainstem hemorrhage above 15ml is about 81.8%. Among them, the mortality rate is even higher when the amount of brainstem hemorrhage exceeds 20ml. The survival period of brainstem hemorrhage mainly depends on the following aspects: First, it depends on the nature of the bleeding, such as whether the patient has arteriosclerotic bleeding, tumor bleeding, or vascular malformation bleeding, which determines the patient's prognosis time. The second depends on the amount of bleeding. If the amount of bleeding in the brain stem is large, the patient's survival prognosis is generally very poor. If the bleeding is small, the patient may be able to survive for a long time. The third is the location of the patient's brainstem bleeding. The brainstem is divided into the midbrain, pons, and medulla oblongata. If bleeding occurs in the medulla oblongata, it may directly endanger the patient's vital center for survival, and the patient's hope of survival will be very slim. With a small amount of bleeding in the midbrain or pons, the patient may be able to obtain a relatively long survival.

Brainstem hemorrhage accounts for about 10% of clinical cerebral hemorrhage cases. Although the incidence rate is not high, brainstem hemorrhage has an acute onset, a severe condition, and a poor prognosis. It is the disease with the highest mortality rate and the worst prognosis among all strokes. Brainstem hemorrhage accounts for 5.0% to 13.4% of cerebral hemorrhage, often occurring in the pons, often due to rupture of the perforating arteries supplying the pons from the basilar artery.

Treatment principles

The treatment of brainstem hemorrhage must be timely and every second counts, and controlling blood pressure is the most important link. Rapidly lowering blood pressure to normal or slightly higher levels can effectively prevent rebleeding and avoid further progression of the disease. Hibernation is also an important treatment method. Hibernation can effectively reduce metabolism, reduce oxygen and energy consumption of brain cells, and protect brain cells. At the same time, it calms the patient, reduces the energy consumption of the entire body, and enhances the body's reserves. For patients with heavy bleeding and coma, timely external ventricular drainage should be performed to reduce intracranial pressure and prevent secondary damage to brain cells and brain herniation. If there is a lung infection, perform a tracheotomy immediately without hesitation to correct lung function. The treatment of complications must be active and not tolerated, otherwise serious consequences will occur. At the same time, providing intensive care, oxygen inhalation, reducing intracranial pressure, stopping bleeding, preventing and treating gastric ulcers, protecting brain tissue and other auxiliary treatments will definitely save the lives of most patients with brainstem hemorrhage. Once the patient's vital signs are stable, early functional exercises should be performed to promote the recovery of various body functions. After discharge from the hospital, patients should also be given life counseling to help them develop good and positive living habits and prevent the recurrence of the disease.
