Rehabilitation nursing for radiation skin reaction in patients with lung cancer

Rehabilitation nursing for radiation skin reaction in patients with lung cancer

Radiotherapy is one of the treatments for lung cancer patients. However, as radiotherapy progresses and the radiation dose increases, lung cancer patients will also experience some radiation skin reactions, such as erythema, dry dermatitis and moist dermatitis. So how should lung cancer patients carry out rehabilitation care when they encounter radiation skin reactions? Different symptoms require different care methods.

erythema

Generally, the disease will disappear on its own without treatment, but patients should pay attention to skin protection. They can use warm water or a soft towel to gently wash the irradiated skin. Do not use soap or hot water.

Dry dermatitis

When you encounter dry dermatitis, you can use talcum powder, prickly heat powder, calamine lotion to astringe or relieve itching. It can be cured without medication, and generally, after dermatitis is completely cured, there will be no marks on the skin.

Wet dermatitis

Wet dermatitis should be treated with exposure therapy, and infection should be avoided. Antibiotic ointment can be applied externally to keep the skin dry. Generally, small blisters should not be punctured. When skin erosion occurs, 1% gentian violet can be applied locally 2 to 3 times a day for treatment.

Deep skin burns

If lung cancer patients suffer from deep skin burns during radiotherapy, it is usually a treatment error and is often difficult to heal. In this case, the patient should be prohibited from further exposure to radiation. If the burn area is large, skin removal and skin grafting are often required.
