Why do my hands often go numb suddenly?

Numbness in the hands is most likely caused by cervical spondylosis. Some people may find it strange, but in fact cervical spondylosis can cause numbness in the hands and feet. Therefore, we should pay attention to the prevention of cervical spondylosis, and also pay attention to the prevention of chronic alcohol poisoning.

1. Hand numbness may be caused by cervical spondylosis

The symptoms vary, numbness in the fingers is one of them, and a cervical spine X-ray can help with diagnosis. In addition to physical therapy, traction and the use of some blood-activating and blood-stasis-removing drugs to treat cervical spondylosis, you can do some slow neck exercises at ordinary times; the pillow should be of appropriate height when sleeping, generally 7 to 9 cm high, and of moderate hardness and softness. The sleeping posture should be correct to avoid local blood vessels and nerve tissue compression.

2. Numbness in the hands may be caused by chronic alcohol poisoning

For some people who drink frequently, numbness in the palms of their hands may indicate chronic alcohol poisoning. If chronic alcohol poisoning is not intervened in time, it can lead to dysfunction of various body systems and even irreversible pathological damage, such as chronic gastrointestinal inflammation and ulcers, alcoholic myocarditis, fatty liver or cirrhosis, central nervous system degeneration or brain atrophy.

3. Peripheral neuritis causes numbness in the hands

If the elderly have poor digestion and absorption functions and malnutrition for a long time, they may suffer from vitamin B1 deficiency, leading to peripheral neuritis and numbness of the fingers. If you have an incorrect posture during sleep, your neck is tilted and your arms are under pressure, it may cause numbness in your fingers.

4. Diabetes can also cause numbness in the hands

Diabetes can cause many complications, diabetic neuropathy is one of them. If peripheral neuropathy occurs, there will be symptoms such as numbness and abnormal sensation in the limbs. Once you have diabetes, you need to receive regular and reasonable treatment to control your blood sugar within the normal range, and pay attention to supplementing vitamin B1, vitamin B6, vitamin C, etc.

5. Transient ischemic attack causes numbness in the hands

The elderly often suffer from high blood pressure, high blood lipids and other diseases. Hypertension can cause vascular spasms, high blood lipids can cause increased blood viscosity, and slow blood flow during sleep at night. These factors can lead to transient cerebral ischemia and numbness of the fingers. Therefore, the elderly should check their blood pressure, blood lipids, and blood rheology tests regularly. If they have high blood pressure or high blood lipids, they should receive antihypertensive and lipid-lowering treatment and drink more water. They can also use nimodipine, salvia miltiorrhiza tablets, low-dose aspirin and other drugs under the guidance of a doctor to improve microcirculation, and the numbness of the fingers will be eliminated.
