What are the symptoms of dizziness and muscle weakness?

Dizziness is a common symptom in patients with myasthenia gravis. If the patient has poor sleep quality, exercises too much, or is overworked, dizziness may occur; or if the patient does not pay attention to climate changes and catches a cold, dizziness may occur. In addition to weakness and dizziness, myasthenia gravis may also have other symptoms.

Myasthenia gravis is an autoimmune disease with conduction disorders at the neuromuscular junction of skeletal muscle. It is characterized by easy muscle fatigue, which is better in the morning and worse in the evening, and is relieved after rest or taking cholesterase inhibitors. The extraocular muscles, muscles of mastication, swallowing, and breathing are often affected. In severe cases, bulbar palsy occurs. The distribution of affected muscles varies from person to person and from time to time, and it is not a paralysis that occurs when a certain nerve is damaged. This disease should be called acquired autoimmune myasthenia gravis, usually referred to as myasthenia gravis. It is an immune disease caused by autoantibodies and a chronic disease caused by transmission disorders at the neuromuscular junction. The clinical manifestations are abnormal fatigue and weakness of the affected skeletal muscles, easy fatigue, and inability to move at will. The symptoms are temporarily relieved or disappear after rest or taking anticholesterase drugs.

Myasthenia gravis

In the early stages of myasthenia gravis, patients often feel soreness or discomfort in the eyes or limbs, or blurred vision, and are easily fatigued. Fatigue is aggravated by hot weather or menstruation. As the disease progresses, skeletal muscles become noticeably tired and weak. A notable feature is that muscle weakness worsens in the afternoon or evening after exertion and improves in the morning or after resting. This phenomenon is called "lighter in the morning, heavier in the evening."

Common symptoms of myasthenia gravis

Myasthenia gravis patients can affect skeletal muscles throughout the body and may have the following symptoms:

(1) Drooping eyelids, blurred vision, diplopia, strabismus, and inflexible eye movement.

(2) Apathetic expression, wry smile, lisp, dysarthria, and often accompanied by nasal voice.

(3) Weakness in chewing, coughing when drinking water, and difficulty swallowing.

(4) The neck is weak, making it difficult to raise the head, and the patient is unable to turn the neck or shrug the shoulders.

(5) Difficulty raising arms, combing hair, climbing stairs, squatting, and getting into a car.
