The dangers of hyperlipidemia, beware of these complications

Nowadays, the three high diseases are becoming more and more common among middle-aged and elderly people, especially hyperlipidemia, which can cause many complications. High blood lipids will make diabetes more serious and may also be combined with fatty liver. Everyone should pay attention to developing good living habits, especially pay attention to diet.

1. Blood lipids and diabetes

Hyperlipidemia, hypertension and hyperglycemia are called "three highs" and are the main risk factors that threaten the health and life of diabetic patients. The three are closely related. Hyperlipidemia can aggravate diabetes, so in addition to treating hyperglycemia, diabetic patients also need to regulate blood lipids, which is the key to reducing the mortality and disability rates of diabetic patients. Diabetic patients should pay attention to regulating blood lipids: Diabetes combined with hyperlipidemia is more likely to cause cerebral stroke, coronary heart disease, limb necrosis, fundus lesions, kidney lesions, neuropathy, etc. These long-term complications of diabetes are the main causes of disability or premature death in diabetic patients. More than half of diabetic patients have hyperlipidemia. Active treatment of hyperlipidemia is of great benefit to controlling blood sugar and preventing complications. Adjusting blood sugar can improve blood lipids to a certain extent, but to achieve ideal levels, lipid-regulating drug intervention treatment is also required. The treatment status of diabetes and lipid metabolism has become the standard for the quality of disease control in diabetic patients.

2. Blood lipids and fatty liver

Fatty liver is caused by the accumulation of large amounts of fat in the liver, often accompanied by increased blood lipids. B-ultrasound examination is currently the main means of examining fatty liver. The incidence of fatty liver is as high as 5~10%. About 35% of those with elevated transaminase in adult physical examinations have fatty liver, and some patients may develop cirrhosis. Therefore, the prevention and treatment of fatty liver is very important for preventing the progression of chronic liver disease and improving the prognosis. Who is prone to fatty liver: patients with hyperlipidemia, diabetes, those with abdominal fat accumulation, long-term heavy drinkers, obese people and those with viral hepatitis. What are the symptoms of fatty liver: most people with mild fatty liver have no subjective symptoms, while moderate and severe cases are manifested as hepatomegaly, loss of appetite, distension and pain in the liver area, increased transaminase, and a few have mild jaundice and splenomegaly. What should patients with fatty liver do: early treatment can prevent the development of fatty liver. Most fatty livers can be cured, including eliminating the cause, improving lifestyle, and adjusting the dietary structure; using lipid-regulating drugs for treatment.

3. Preventive care

To avoid the harm of hyperlipidemia, there are three main prevention and treatment principles. The first is to establish good living habits, quit smoking, quit drinking, strengthen physical exercise, choose light to moderate physical activities suitable for yourself, combine work and rest, relieve various mental worries, feel good, and maintain health through quietness. The second is to use diet therapy. Limit the excessive intake of high-cholesterol foods, such as animal fat, animal brains, offal, cream, mollusks, and shellfish. The dietary structure should be reasonably allocated with a ratio of 15% protein, 20% fat, and 65% carbohydrates (sugars). You should also supplement high-quality protein, eat more fresh vegetables and appropriate fruits, such as eggplant, onion, hawthorn, tomato, soy products, soybeans, corn, walnuts and milk.
