Some herpes patients do not pay attention to their hygiene during the treatment process and suffer frequent relapses, so they think that the disease cannot be cured. In fact, this is not the case. The method of treating herpes is very mature, but patients also need to pay attention to their own hygiene, otherwise it will be difficult to cure it. Herpes is a type of rash that manifests as localized, raised, fluid-filled lacunar lesions. The blister walls are generally thin and easy to break. It can occur singly, in clusters, or scattered on the skin and mucous membranes throughout the body. Herpes in a broad sense refers to diseases caused by viruses of the herpesviridae family. Currently, there are eight viruses in the herpesviridae family (herpes simplex virus types 1 and 2, varicella-zoster virus, human cytomegalovirus, Epstein-Barr virus and human herpes virus types 6, 7, and 8) that are known to cause human diseases. These viruses are collectively referred to as human herpesviruses (HHVs). HHV is a group of medium-sized enveloped DNA viruses that can cause a variety of diseases in humans and can remain latent in the body for a long time, causing recurrent infection under certain conditions. Common clinical diseases include chickenpox, shingles, herpes simplex, and genital herpes. It can invade multiple organs of the human body and can occur at any age. (1) Herpes zoster is an acute infectious skin disease caused by the varicella-zoster virus. Children who are not immune to the virus develop chickenpox when infected. Some patients become carriers of the virus after being infected but do not develop symptoms. Because the virus is neurotropic, it can remain dormant in the neurons of the dorsal root ganglia of the spinal cord for a long time after infection. When the resistance is low or when you are tired, infected, or have a cold, the virus can grow and multiply again and move along the nerve fibers to the skin, causing severe inflammation of the invaded nerves and skin. The rash is generally unilateral and distributed according to nerve segments. The most common sites are the intercostal nerves, cervical nerves, trigeminal nerves and lumbar sacral nerves. It is composed of clustered herpes and is accompanied by pain. The older the age, the more severe the neuralgia, and it can cause postherpetic neuralgia. This disease is more common in adults and is more common in spring and autumn. The incidence rate increases significantly with age. (2) Varicella-zoster uveitis can be congenital or acquired, and the acute retinal necrosis syndrome caused by it has become an important blinding eye disease. The diagnosis is confirmed by isolating and culturing the varicella-zoster virus from infected tissue. Slit lamp examination can reveal anterior uveal lesions; fundus fluorescein angiography can reveal retinal vasculitis and the corresponding characteristic changes of retinal neovascularization and optic discitis. (3) The typical lesions of herpes zoster ophthalmoides are mostly in the skin distribution areas of the branches of the first trigeminal nerve (frontal nerve, lacrimal nerve and nasociliary nerve) or the branches of the third main trigeminal nerve (relatively rare), where a clustered vesicular rash occurs. However, it does not cross the central boundary between the eyelid and the nose, but is limited to one side. It is more common in middle-aged and elderly patients. Recurrence is rare after cure. |
