What medicine is good for high blood pressure

Many people know that high blood pressure, especially as age increases, is also a cause of high blood pressure. High blood pressure must be controlled and can be relieved with medication. Regarding the question of what medicine is good for high blood pressure, you must take more antihypertensive drugs to control the increase of blood pressure.

1. Diuretic antihypertensive drugs:

Diuretics help the kidneys excrete sodium and water from the body, thereby treating high blood pressure. Diuretics can also cause blood vessels to dilate. Side effects include low potassium, etc. When using diuretics, potassium should be supplemented and potassium-sparing preparations should be used. Diuretics are suitable for the elderly, obese people, and people with high blood pressure who have renal failure or heart failure. The most commonly used first-line antihypertensive drugs are hydrochlorothiazide.

2. Adrenergic blockers antihypertensive drugs:

The most commonly used are beta-blockers, such as metoprolol. It works by blocking the sympathetic nervous system and is particularly suitable for young people, people who have had myocardial infarction, those with hypertension who have tachyarrhythmias, and angina pectoris. This type of antihypertensive drug is also used to treat angina pectoris, myocardial infarction, etc.

3. Calcium antagonists antihypertensive drugs:

It can dilate blood vessels to treat hypertension and is suitable for the elderly and people with angina pectoris and hypertension. Studies have shown that the use of short-acting calcium channel blockers may increase the risk of death from myocardial infarction, but there is no evidence that the use of long-acting preparations has a similar risk. Common side effects of this type of antihypertensive drug include headache, facial flushing, and ankle edema.

4. Angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor antihypertensive drugs:

It lowers blood pressure by dilating arterial blood vessels. It is particularly suitable for young people, hypertensive patients with heart failure, hypertensive patients with proteinuria, and hypertensive patients who have more side effects from taking other antihypertensive drugs. It has the effect of protecting target organs. A common side effect is dry cough.
