What to do if you have a low fever? Two ways to improve it

Everyone has experienced a high fever, but not necessarily a low fever. Low fever is actually very common in life. When the human body temperature is lower than normal, it can be considered a low fever. Low-grade fever is accompanied by a certain degree of discomfort, but it is more easily ignored by people. There are many reasons for low-grade fever. What should you do if you have a low-grade fever for a long time? It is recommended that you go to the hospital to find out the cause as soon as possible.

1. What is a low-grade fever?

The normal body temperature of a person is generally 35.8~37.4℃. Under normal circumstances, a normal person's body temperature should not be higher than 37.5℃. If the temperature is often above 37.3℃, it is a low fever. According to body temperature conditions, fever is divided into: low fever: 37.3~38℃; moderate fever: 38.1~39℃; high fever: 39.1~41℃; hyperpyrexia: above 41℃.

2. Symptoms of a low-grade fever

Hypothermia is a body temperature that exceeds normal but is below 38°C. The low fever referred to in traditional Chinese medicine also includes a situation in which the patient subjectively feels hot in the palms and soles and hot in the chest, but the body temperature is not higher than normal. Common manifestations include night heat and morning coolness, or night fever, afternoon hot flashes, hot hands and soles, bone steaming fever, often accompanied by weight loss, fatigue, weakness, poor appetite, irritability, red tongue with little coating, and thin pulse.

3. What to do if you have a low-grade fever

1. Warm and wet compress

Using warm water can also help dissipate heat, and it is very simple to do.

Specific steps:

1. Prepare warm water, the hot water temperature should be around 30℃.

2. Undress the baby, wet the towel, and rub the baby's body up and down with the warm water towel.

3. Change towels every 10-15 minutes.

2. Ice

Heat is mainly transferred through the exchange of heat between ice placed in large blood vessels throughout the body and the flowing blood. At the same time, it can reduce the oxygen consumption of brain cells, delay brain cell damage, and is beneficial to the body's microcirculation.

Specific steps:

1. Put homemade ice cubes just taken out of the refrigerator into a plastic bag, tie it tightly, put it in 2-3 layers to prevent leakage, and then wrap a towel on the outside.

2. Apply ice packs to the back of the head, forehead, armpits, neck, groin and other places where large blood vessels pass.

3. Change it every 5-10 minutes until the high fever subsides.
