Although medicine is very advanced nowadays, there are still many difficult and complicated diseases. Soft tissue tumor is a disease that is difficult to characterize clinically and pathologically. Currently, the means of identifying and diagnosing soft tissue tumors are limited, and it is difficult to judge the degree of tumor lesions and whether they are benign or malignant. This is a difficulty that all major clinical medical disciplines are trying hard to overcome. What are soft tissue tumors? Soft tissue tumors are tumors that originate from mesenchymal tissue and are located within the soft tissue. They are mainly tumors of the soft tissues of the musculoskeletal system (such as muscles, ligaments, periosteum, fat, etc.). Benign ones are tumors, and malignant ones are sarcomas. Soft tissue tumors can occur in any part of the body at any age, but are more common in young and middle-aged people, and most often occur on the trunk. 2. Causes of Soft Tissue Tumors 1. Congenital malformations Hemangiomas are more common in infants and children. The manifestations of vascular malformations are abnormal dilation of capillaries, venules, arterioles and lymphatic vessels, without endothelial cell proliferation and low mast cell counts. They can be divided into venous type, capillary type, lymphangioma type and arteriovenous fistula type. Most of these lesions are discovered after birth. 2. Familial inheritance Years of research have observed that many tumor cells display chromosomal abnormalities. People with chromosomal abnormalities have a higher incidence of tumors than normal people, and there is a familial hereditary phenomenon. These situations all support that the occurrence of tumors is closely related to family heredity. We have also further recognized the phenomenon of autosomal dominant inheritance, but its penetrance is not consistent. 3. Foreign body stimulation Animal experiments and clinical observations have shown that long-term physical stimulation of the body by foreign objects can induce soft tissue tumors. 4. Chemical stimulation It has been confirmed that polycyclic hydrocarbons have an inducing effect, but there is still a lack of strong evidence for humans. Only epidemiological surveys have found that a small number of workers who have long-term exposure to polyvinyl chloride will develop hepatic angiosarcoma. 5. Trauma theory According to the analysis of medical history, a considerable number of patients with soft tissue tumors have a clear history of trauma at the tumor site. Some patients develop soft tissue tumors on the basis of past surgical scars. 6. Endocrine factors There is no definitive conclusion on the relationship between the occurrence of soft tissue tumors and endocrine system. 7. Others Factors such as viruses, chronic edema inflammation and radiation can also induce soft tissue tumors. |
