I believe everyone is familiar with eardrum perforation. You may have encountered this situation yourself. There are different treatment methods depending on the condition of the disease. Generally, eardrum repair surgery is used. When people hear about surgery, they will think of the success rate. They are still quite concerned about this. So what is the success rate of eardrum repair surgery? Let's find out together. The success rate of eardrum repair surgery is relatively high. There are two methods of eardrum repair: surgery and cauterization: 1. Burning stimulation method: It is suitable for smaller perforations. Some patients with larger perforations can also achieve success with this method. The method is to cauterize the edge of the perforated eardrum with 50% trichloroacetic acid (or 30% silver nitrate), and use a special small sharp needle to prick the edge of the perforated eardrum 2 to 3 mm away from the edge of the perforated eardrum. The main purpose is to stimulate the outer and middle layers of the eardrum to form a fresh wound and promote the regrowth of the edge that has stopped growing. After the cauterization and stimulation is completed, a thin layer of cotton pads, plastic sheets or egg membranes are attached to the surface of the eardrum, and the patient is asked to drip 5% urea boric acid solution every day to accelerate the repair of the perforated edge. Generally, it is checked once every 10 days. If poor growth or no growth is found, the cauterization or prickling can be repeated. This burning stimulation repair method is simple and easy, and can be performed in the outpatient clinic. Patients can work and study as usual. Its disadvantage is that it often needs to be repeated many times, the repair time is long, and it is sometimes unsuccessful for larger perforations. 2. Surgical repair: This method is suitable for larger eardrum perforations. The method is to scrape off the remaining epithelium and endothelium of the eardrum by surgical method to form a fresh wound surface, and then implant the transplant on the wound surface to seal the perforation. Eardrum repair usually uses autologous skin grafts, external auditory canal pedicled skin flaps, cartilage grafts, veins or temporalis fascia. After various methods of eardrum repair, most people's hearing is improved. If you have a perforated eardrum, regardless of the cause, you should go to the hospital for a detailed examination to see if it is appropriate to repair the eardrum. |
