How to eat southern candle leaves

Generally, the leaves of Candlewood are used in medicine, so they are not common in life, and many friends do not know how to use them. The leaves of the southern candle can be used to soak in water or to make black rice. They have a calming and eye-improving effect on the human body.

In Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi, Anhui and other places in China, people still retain the ancient custom of eating black rice in the fourth month of the lunar calendar. The details are as follows:

(1) Ingredients: 500 g glutinous rice, 50 g (2 handfuls) of Candlewood leaves.

(2) The method is: 1) Wash the glutinous rice and set aside. 2) Wash the leaves of Candlewood, add 500 ml of water and boil for half an hour. Remove the leaf residue and use the juice to cook glutinous rice. Cook over low heat for about 2 hours until the rice turns black and is cooked.

(3) It has the effects of nourishing the spleen and kidneys, relieving cough, calming the nerves, improving eyesight, and darkening hair. It is suitable for people with weak constitutions as a dietary supplement.

Not only can the leaves of the southern candle be used to make fragrant black rice, but they can also be used to make black dishes such as bear paws, black goose paws, black tendons, black duck meat, black eggs, etc. The only difference is that the soaking time will be longer, which is 48 hours. The leaves of Candlewood Chrysanthemum are rich in pigments. When the physical conditions change, the pigments will strongly adhere to the food and turn brown.
