Symptoms of vesicular tinea pedis

Symptoms of vesicular tinea pedis

Vesicular tinea pedis is also a type of athlete's foot. Although it is not a serious disease problem, it can cause great trouble to our lives. Symptoms include water or erosion of the skin, and unbearable itching. Therefore, we need to pay attention to prevention and use antibiotics correctly.

1. Blister-type tinea pedis often occurs on the arch and toes. It manifests as clustered or scattered deep small blisters, as big as millet grains. The blister walls are generally thick, and there is a little scaling after rupture or absorption. The patient feels obvious itching, which is often followed by secondary infection due to scratching or picking at the blisters with a needle. Vesicular tinea pedis mainly invades the spaces between the toes, with blisters and erosions appearing on the skin, gradually spreading to the arch and sole of the foot. Pustules are less common, and hyphae can be detected under a microscope.

2. Interdigital erosion is often the first manifestation of tinea pedis. It is generally more severe in summer and milder in winter. It can also occur in winter for those with excessive foot sweating. Long-term unhealed interdigital erosions often lead to secondary streptococcal infection and erysipelas, which is a common cause of erysipelas of the lower limbs. The main manifestation of vesicular tinea pedis is clustered or scattered blisters on the side edge of the foot. The blister walls are thick, and the blisters often dry up on their own, followed by desquamation. If not handled properly, bacterial infection may occur, forming a purulent rash.

3. There are generally two treatments for vesicular tinea pedis. One is topical antifungal drugs, and the other is a combined treatment method of oral antifungal drugs and topical antifungal drugs. Generally, for mild tinea pedis, such as a new onset of the disease, a few blisters often appear on the toes accompanied by itching, or for milder interdigital erosive and keratotic tinea pedis, topical antifungal drugs can be used.
